FanNation - The Republic of Sport

For my one year anniversary on Fannation, I'd thought I'd do a rundown of all the avatars I've used. Since I don't change this as often as other people, it wasn't that hard. So if you enjoy it, cool. If not, m'eh. This hasn't been a very active group, and I've sort of treated it like a neglected step-child. Just trying to think up new ideas so this group doesn't die a horrible death. The first one I had, of course, was the same as everyone else starts out with. The arm waving the little red flag. The following photo, that was the first one I chose once I figured out you could do it. There really was no thinking behind it, I just thought it would be cool. This was back when I was known as Raiderfan. What it has to do with the Raiders.....uh...nothing.

At the time, I started hanging out in the T & R sections, and eventually decided this avatar was not really representative of "Raiderfan". Plus, I wasn't just commenting on the Jamarcus Russell saga that was unfolding, I was spending time in the soccer pages too. So it was time for a change. First, I changed the avatar, then the next day, after I had gotten into an argument regarding Cuauhtémoc Blanco, who I'm a really big fan of, and David Beckham (with Jeevs who would become my first non-Raiders fan friend) an idea for a new username name came into my head. So that day Thugmeister General debuted, using this avatar of my favorite Costa Rican football team. Its also a cool looking logo.

Next I experimented with a new band that I really was just discovering at the time. A band that played heavy metal like I remembered it should be played. So for a couple of days I had various versions of this avatar, all featuring the same band.

So I ran with that, but after awhile I was spending more time arguing Raiders stuff than anything else. It seemed kind of out of place. Most people didn't get it. I also noticed that a had a high number of profile views from before, but since I had changed my avatar, not so much. Of course, it clicked in my head why, cause I did the same thing everytime I saw a Hot Chick Avatar. I also grew tired of the General part. Thugmeister G just had a little hipper, more thug sounding ring to it. I'm not really into hip-hop much, but its like calling your buddy "home-boy" even though your both white. It just sounds a little cooler. So I shortened it up. Also one day I hit upon my new avatar. Actually there was something a lot more risqué there for a day or so, but that was when I got my first Fanmail from The Moderator, who shut my avatar down. So my second choice was this one, and it remained this one for quite a while. I really liked this one, and it pretty much reflected what was going on with my profile page at the time, with me uploading a lot of photos of bikini-clad women etc.

Of course, at this time the Moderator had found me, and was keeping a pretty good eye on me. Daily, I would put up new pics to my profile page, and sometimes even before the day would be out, many would be taken down without my doing so. They weren't going to let me get away with anything, particularly anything that showed a thong. (Why the Hate for the Thong, Mr. Moderator?) Anyway, I really liked this one and was sticking to it. Then I had a blow-up with a certain other frequent T & R section personality, and left FN for a week. I thought I might not return, I was so disgusted. But return I did, and with a renewed sense of purpose on the site. So I felt, even though I really liked that avatar, a change was in order. It was also when the birth of the Babes Beer & Sports Group happened in my mind, and really, even though I had been on FN for like 5 months at the time, that was truly the beginning of my being an active member. The following is the avatar I chose, and it gained me many new Friend Invites and profile views. I believe it was also around this time the appendage BS was added to the username, and we all know why.

Hey, I just realized looking at this big. The chick in the picture is Zdenka Micka! Learn something new everyday. Back to the blog - Then after awhile, I started feeling guilty about all the invites and profile views. I was just using hot chicks to get people to be my friend and look at my profile. Nobody really cared about anything I was saying. Looking back now, That's crazy talk! Who cares nobody cares what I'm saying?! This site is just for fun anyway. But of course, that's how I think about it now. Back then it was starting to bug me. So I did the unthinkable. I figured, "I'm a guy, so my avatar should be a guy, too." Weird, I know. But that's where my head was at the time. I had just seen "The Departed" and I thought the character Dignum was just hilarious and also the most interesting character in the movie. He also looked kind of mad in this photo, so I chose it as my new avatar. A strange time in the life of Thugmeister, I have to say.

So I kept it at that for awhile. Then one day, I thought, What am I doing? I don't care what people think. And I went back to this one. It was really for a lack of anything better to come up with. It felt comfortable too, and it was always my favorite. So I went back to it and let it stay, thinking maybe I would never change it.

So I got bored with that too, after awhile. Life is too short to just always have the same avatar. By this time, the BB&S group was huge, and I really could do anything I wanted, profile views and friend numbers had grown completely inconsequential to me. I decided I needed a beer themed avatar, and had just chosen this beer as my beer of choice. The effect was positive, and well received. It really showed up well too, when I would make a comment it really stood out with those colors. I enjoy this beer too, so it reflected my personality really good as well.

Wow. Seems kinda blurry all blown up like that. Anyway, onward and upward as my good friend DC says, time grew to me changing that one also. It served its purpose but now it was worn out. Time to find a new avatar. One day, while looking for new material for my blogs, I stumbled across the Barbax beer babes website. I totally dig this one, and am very happy with it. The pic is entitled "a pair of 32's and a pair of 40's. Definitely, I still haven't grown tired of it, although I'm sure eventually I will. So that's it. I'm pretty sure I didn't forget one, but who knows? I'm getting older. One years worth of Avatars. Maybe I'll do this again next year, if I'm still here. BTW - Magic Beer for everyone! On the House!
