With just over 24 hours to go before the 2008 NFL Draft commences, I figured it was time to tackle the Redskins aspect of this place. Or. more importantly, my take on how the Burgundy and Gold should approach their first pick (#21 in the 1st round).
Personally, it's my feeling they need to take a safety to fill Sean Taylor's shoes. But addressing the D-line is OK with me, too. Later on in the draft, they can get a QB to hold the clipboard for 2 or 3 years (while he learns this West Coast offense of our new coach, Jim Zorn). At any rate, we'll all find out how all of us make out.
Which brings me to the other reason for this blog entry.
I'm sure we're ALL sick and tired of these "mock" drafts, because let's face it: once the 2nd pick is announced (because of Parcells cutting the deal for Jake Long), all bets are off. Still, it would be interesting if these particular scenarios play out according to plan:
Darren McFadden to the...Jets?? I could almost envision J. Hova salivating at that thought. Fact is, I can see it happening.
Chris Long to the...Rams?? Hey, just so I don't see a bleeping STAR on the side of his helmet. I keep hearing he could drop down to KC (#5), or perhaps to #6 (those Jets again). If he drops to there, or below, then there's a problem somewhere. The man is a fricking BEAST!!!
The Raiders take...somebody to help?? I'm not piling on, Thug; rather, I'm just trying to assess the situation out there. You're more in tune on that than I am, so I'll just leave it at that.
All I know is, at some point tomorrow night we'll all be congratulating (or offering sympathy for) one another over the picks made. Look at it this way: tomorrow, we have 32 teams starting off @ 0-0. What happens this weekend, determines who gets to hoist the Lombardi Trophy come February.
Happy picking, people...
