The Los Angeles Dodgers have sent Blake DeWitt back down to the minors. The twenty-two year old third-baseman had the chance of a lifetime to get an early start on his legendary baseball career. Although he has been recalled to the minors, the Dodgers were impressed by his stellar performances.
In eight games during the 2008 Regular Season, the rookie hit for a .255 batting average. Only knocking in five runs, it became evident that DeWitt had an excellent line-drive power and stellar plate discipline. Hopefully, we will see more of the third-baseman in the future.
In other news, Tony Abreu may be returning to the Dodgers' line-up soon. He has been participating in pre-game activities, but is still experiencing some pain. However, Andy LaRoche is currently in the Minor Leagues and is expected to resume his Major League Baseball career sometime in the middle of May.
Los Angeles has called up Cory Wade, a relief pitcher from Double-A Jacksonville. In the Minor Leagues, Wade posted an Earned-Run Average of 4.30. However, Dodgers fans feel that Yhency Brazoban would be a better alternative for the Dodgers' bullpen.
Wade has indicated that he has the ability to strike out batters. However, the twenty-four year old hurler needs to develop more consistency on the mound to be a true quality reliever. Hopefully, he will prove to be an asset to the Dodgers' bullpen in the future.
The Dodgers are currently beating the Colorado Rockies, 6-4, in the bottom of the third-inning. Hiroki Kuroda is still pitching for Los Angeles but he may need some relief later in the game. Cory Wade will be available in the Dodgers' bullpen.
