Nomar Garciaparra has been placed back on the Disabled List with a calf injury. This was the same injury that sidelined the third-baseman for a large portion of the 2007 Regular Season. The Dodgers were desperate to find a third-baseman to fill his spot after sending down Blake DeWitt, and moved Russell Martin over to the corner of the infield. This was the catcher's first time playing third-base in his entire Major League Baseball career.
Andruw Jones also suffered a calf injury in the game. However, the Dodgers have put him into tonight's line-up against the Colorado Rockies. Obviously, his "day-to-day," injury wasn't that serious.
Hiroki Kuroda surrendered five runs on nine hits in six innings. About 61% of his pitches landed in the strike zone, which indicates that his earned-runs weren't the result of lack of control. Hopefully, Kuroda will have more success in his future starts.
Cory Wade made his second appearance of the 2008 Regular Season and gave up one run in one inning of work. However, the rookie pitcher struck out two batters. As of now, it looks as if the Dodgers made a smart decision to call up Wade.
Chan Ho Park picked up the win by pitching three scoreless innings. The relief pitcher's Earned-Run Average is now 3.00. With a couple of mere exceptions, the Dodgers have established a rock-solid bullpen.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have a game scheduled against the Colorado Rockies tonight at 10.10 PM EST. Brad Penny is expected to be the starting pitcher for the Dodgers. He currently has a 3-2 record through the 2008 Regular Season.
