The Columbus Dispatch reported Monday night that Anaheim's Bob Murray has withdrawn his name from the Blue Jackets search for a new General Manager. The Ducks Vice President of Hockey Operations apparently made the decision after talking to his family.
That means the Jackets will interview Edmonton's assistant GM Scott Howson again. (The CBJ like his ability to work with a small payroll.) And Columbus's current director of pro-scouting, Don Boyd could end up landing the top job. It's important to note here that the Jackets have--despite their lack of success on the ice--drafted fairly well in the past. And the Jackets most controversial pick, Nikolai Zherdev was not a player that Boyd wanted to take.
It should also be noted that the Jackets other in-house candidate, interim GM Jim Clark is a classy, hard-working man, who has also been a part of the reason the team has drafted well.
But the Jackets have not been able to talk to at least two individuals they would have liked to interview. Dallas denied the Jackets permission to speak to Stars assistant General Manager Les Jackson. The same is true of Toronto pro scout, Craig Button.
