1. Joe Pavelski, Sharks: He was a non-factor for 61 minutes, but scoring the OT winner in an elimination game earns Pavelski a free pass into the first-star slot. It was a nifty individual effort, too, with Pavelski stripping the puck along the boards from Antti Miettinen, and curling through the middle past Nicklas Grossman before launching a wrister that sailed over Marty Turco's glove.
2. Jeremy Roenick, Sharks: The aging star may not have much left in the tank, but he's saved his best efforts in these playoffs for when they've mattered most. Roenick was a monster in the third period comeback, setting up Brian Campbell's tying goal with a brilliant stretch pass, and unleashing a demon forecheck in the Dallas zone that recalled his glory days with the Blackhawks.
3. Brenden Morrow, Stars: If not for video review, Morrow might have had a hat trick ... and the Stars might be preparing for a flight to Detroit instead of Game 6 against the Sharks. The author of Dallas' second goal put two more pucks behind Evgeni Nabokov that would have stretched the lead, but both failed to meet the league's standards. Though he didn't get credit for the markers, they stand in evidence of his constant and dangerous presence around the San Jose net.

The 1st star(s) should be the 3(or was it 4) blind mice in the video replay booth. That was a travesty and the league should be embarassed, especially with the guy yucking it up as the call was announced.

Report Offensive CommentI'm sorry, I wasn't watching. Go over this, for the general public...

Report Offensive CommentThe league is not going to be embarassed, the right call was definitely made on the gloved puck right away, and the call on the kicked puck was borderline, but the referees can't assume that every player is an angel and isn't trying to kick it in while making it look unintentional.

Report Offensive CommentI'm sorry but the more I watch the replay, the more he dragged his foot with the puck. The puck made contact longer than just a deflection, it rode it for at least 2 tenths of a second. The play was similar to the ones where you receive the puck off your skate and drag it forward. I'm sorry if you think the league got it wrong, but I felt it was the right call watching from where I was. I'm objective in this situation too as I could care less who wins this series as my team never made the playoffs (stupid 'Canes).
Besides, I like watching as many games as possible and the 3rd period and the 1 minute of over time was by far more exciting than some of the other stuff I've seen this post season. I want this series to go all 7 as it is an exciting series. I think Nabokov needs to step up, he seems softer now than he was over the regular season. So if he heats up and Thornton comes alive, the Sharks could push for game 7 and then it is anyone's game.
