BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No way he shouldve won it.

Chris Paul did more for his team than anyone this year including Kobe. Would David West be an All-Star without CP? No. Would Peja still be the resurging player he is without CP? No Would Tyson Chandler have gone from a joke and a bust to a respectable player without CP? No.

Would Odom, Gasol, and Fisher still be good players without Kobe? yeah, theyve proven as much.

On top of that, CP's numbers as a whole are more impressive.

Terrible Decision. This is a career achievement award for Kobe not an MVP, he should gracefully decline and give it to CP.

May 3, 2008  01:31 AM ET

I've been preaching that meesage all year but LA fans dominate this site so it just goes on deaf ears

May 3, 2008  01:32 AM ET

but don't worry Kobe's getting old and CP3 will get his whether in theplayoffs this year or down the line.

May 3, 2008  01:36 AM ET

true. I just don't understand why we can't give awards to people who actually earn them anymore. In any genre of life. Nobel, Pulitzer, MVP, Oscar, Razzie...haha...its all garbage, haha.

May 3, 2008  01:41 AM ET

Don't hate Kobe did just as much for his team as paul. Where would the Lakers be without Kobe?

May 3, 2008  01:42 AM ET

The Lakers would be Memphis pretty much.

May 3, 2008  02:13 AM ET

Kobe is hands down the player that made his team the best this year. He led them to the #1 spot in the western conferance. You haters can ****. LAKERS. WEST COAST. CHUUUCH. PREACH. JUJU. GOOD GAME.

winning the whole thing will be even more sweet cuz all u haters are gonna be crying like the little girls that you are.

May 3, 2008  02:39 AM ET

Lakers without Kobe would be Gasol, Odom, Fisher, Farmar, Turiaf with Vlad, Vujacic, Mbenga, Walton, and Karl coming off the bench. Thats a possiblle 7 or 8 seed. No worse than 10 best in cenference.

Hornet without Paul? They are either the bottom or next to last team in the West. Hornets have no All-Star without paul (West wouldnt be an allstar without him) and the Lakers would still have two All-Stars without Kobe.

Not even a debate. Chris Paul did more for his team... and his overall numbers were more impressive.

May 3, 2008  02:45 AM ET

He led them? really? Because im pretty sure the Hornets were number one until Gasol began killing it for the Lakers every night. If anything Gasol AND Kobe led the LAkers to the number one. Meanwhile, Chris Paul was the only leader of the second seeded hornets who were only one game back from the Lakers. One game means nothing in the regular season, unless you are at or near .500

May 3, 2008  02:47 AM ET

And dont try to tell me, the lakers were at the top of the conference before the Gasol trade, because thats a bogus answer since Bynum was playing then and he was tearin it up just like Gasol is now.

May 3, 2008  10:35 AM ET

Be more bitter man.
Who is on the top of the Western Conference? Yeah, Kobe and the Lakers...and the MVP is the most valuable for the WHOLE SEASON...as i recall, gasol didnt join the lakers until the last 20 games or so. And as i recall....in the last week of the playoffs...the week that would pretty much decide all between the tight top two candidates...what happened? the hornets went 2-3..losing to the lakers and kings in that stretch...kobe showing why he is mvp....and what did the lakers do? they beat the spurs, hornets, and kings. oh please, dont come in here with that weak argument.

May 3, 2008  12:28 PM ET

you guys should give it a rest. Let's look at BOTH supporting casts.

David West = Pau Gasol
Tyson Chandler = Andrew Bynum (but he's injured, so Chris Paul has an advantage already)
Peja = Radmonovic + Vujacic

Now we look at Kobe vs. Chris Paul. Their supporting casts are similar except for the fact that Bynum has been injured. In other words, Paul's supporting cast is better. Also, Kobe is playing with a torn ligament in his finger. Finally, to those who say the Lakers would be good without him. No. They would be the Grizzlies. Pau would be the whole team, Lamar would be Mike Miller, and they'd suck.

May 3, 2008  12:31 PM ET

Not to mention Kobe's team STILL was #1 in the west. Radmonovic, Vujacic, Turiaf, Gasol, Bynum, Ariza were ALL INJURED THIS SEASON. Kobe was the only real constant on his team. Chris Paul's team never really went through any injuries. David West may have missed like a game or two.

May 3, 2008  02:11 PM ET

here come the unreasonable lakers fans

May 3, 2008  03:39 PM ET

You guys make good points. Still, Kobe didn't mean as much to his team or do as much for his teammates than Paul. Thats just my opinion, ive already supported that opinion with very logical and undeniable responses, so im out. Good paragraphing though. Thanks Laker fans.

May 3, 2008  05:57 PM ET

LSUrocks1 might win a TD :
In my opinion, the only reason paul means more to the team is because he is a point guard who distributes, Kobe is a 2 guard who scores more. it evens out. Paul is a great player...but the fact that the spurs and lakers BOTH battled injuries....and yeah kobe LED the team...paul cant win 55 games alone...KObe cant win 57 alone...thats why its a called a team. but he still LED them. Dont try to set up a straw man argument. (its a logical fallacy, look it up). The lakers lost so much to injuries...the hornets lost west for about 5 games....thats IT.
Paul is great. But kobe led the best team in the west to the 1st spot.
And, in the last week of the season, it was that lakers that beat the spurs and hornets...badly. paul didnt play well. they went 2-3 to lose the top seed. thats not something an MVP does.

Period. We are Done Here.
Have a great day kobe haters...oops...i mean "basketball fans"

May 3, 2008  05:59 PM ET

DCsunDfour21 :
the lakers would have TWO all stars without kobe?
THE LAST TIME I CHECKED LAMAR ODOM HAS NEVER BEEN AN ALL STAR AND PAUL GASOL HAS ONLY BEEN AN ALL STAR ONCE.

So dont come in here with that weak argument.

it must be embarrassing for you to be shown up like that.

May 3, 2008  06:01 PM ET

DCsunDfour21 :
undeniable? you realize that what you are saying has never been said in espn or on any sports show right?

you realize that yeah west scores alot more by himself? and that it is chandler who is most dependent on paul? West doesnt get alley oops from paul...while paul does feed him from time to time...you can say that west would be nothing and not an all star without paul, how disrespectful can you be?
David West was already rising by the time paul got to the level he is now

May 3, 2008  06:06 PM ET

Tanks me quotation...I'll tell you right now I'm not an fan, I like to watch the playoffs, thats it.

May 3, 2008  06:06 PM ET

Thanks Mr. Quotation***

May 3, 2008  06:40 PM ET

you realize that you just said that you are not a fan, and just watch the playoffs?

again i quote...because thats how you trump the weak arguments of ignorant "fans".....you have on the top of this page, a description of yourself...it starts with: "Fan of all sports...yes, that includes Soccer and Women's B-Ball aka the sports American fans love to trash".......so i suppose that you arent a fan....

hey maybe you might be bitter because the phx suns got trounced in the first round......
hmmm maybe,

we think so. good day.
