I am against the whole idea of a playoff system in college football. The problems with it outweigh the gains.
Number of Teams: The sheer amount of teams in college football prevent any playoff system from being effective. There are too many teams that do not meet, and that would cause an inaccurate representation of teams who deserve to be in the playoffs.
Skill Level: The SEC is the most dominant division in college football, but would it be fair to allow a 6-4 SEC team in the playoffs over a 7-3 Pac-10 team? Fans would argue that their respective teams deserve entry and the sport will lose support.
Amount of Games: To put all the skill level arguments to rest, there would be too many games for the players. The amount of games needed to reach the finals would be massive and would take up until draft time, and the players can't handle that.
Injuries: The high amount of games would lead to a lot of injuries. The players' health should not be put in unnecessary risk. Injuries are pretty much guaranteed. The full season of games and the postseason will put considerable fatigue on the players and cause injuries.
The current Bowl system is perfect, a playoff system would ruin the preperation and competition between teams who have weeks to prepare for each other. The only thing better than the actual bowl game is the anticipation of it.
