There is now a problem with Pro Bowl voting. The Pro Bowl has turned into a popularity contest.
But let's not take things the wrong way, these players are good, but not Pro Bowl good this year.
Examples:
Romo: Played less than a full season and struggle down the stretch. Sure, he had a productive first couple of weeks, but that's because of the lack of knowledge on him. No one had game tape, no one knew what he does. When he first got thrown in against the Giants, he threw 2 touchdowns, but three interceptions, in less than one full game. When he played against the Giants for the second time, he threw two interceptions with zero touchdowns. The Giants were riddled with injuries and had a horrible secondary before injuries, but they knew Romo and neutralized him. Against a mediocre Panthers team, he threw 1 touchdown and one interception. he had twogood consecutive games against Washington and Arizona, 2 touchdowns in each with no interceptions, but it was against Washington and Arizona. No touchdowns and an interception against the Colts. 5 touchdowns against Tampa Bay, it's Tampa Bay. In the next two games against the Giants and Saints, he threw 2 interceptions in each with a grand total of one touchdown. Against Atlanta and Detroit, he threw two touchdowns and one interception in each, solid, but the teams are not very good. Against the Eagles, a team the Cowboys should know, he threw one touchdown and 2 interceptions. Which comes to a grand total of 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, but what really matters is that he threw 6 touchdowns and 8 interceptions in December. He struggled down the stretch when it counted.
Romo's Replacement: Romo plaed majorly in ten games this season, which is the same as McNabb. McNabb had a higher total Passer Rating, one less touchdown but 7 less interceptions. One suitable replacement for Romo, who only played for ten games like McNabb, would be McNabb. Eli Manning may be another Pro Bowl replacement. Manning had a crappy November in which he threw 3 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. But the other moths he threw 21 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He threw more touchdowns than interceptions in 4 games out of 16 (25%), Romo threw more interceptions than touchdowns in 5 games out of 10 (50%). Both had 6 less interceptions than touchdowns. The Giants were ravaged by injuries, losing Amani Toomer (their most productive WR), Sinorice Moss, and Luke Petitgout (the left tackle that protects Manning's blindside); not to mention a coach that even Tiki Barber resented. Romo on the other hand had a quality OL, healthy, talented WR's, and a Super Bowl-winning coach.
Why Romo Was Picked: He was the quarterback of "America's Team," and the obsession of a state that was tired of Bledsoe and was overly optimistic. Everybody LOVED Bill Clinton until he had an affair, yet he had the only budget surplus in over a decade, had an amazing foreign policy, and was a very good president. All it will take is for the public to realize that Romo is a solid quarterback and not a Pro bwol quarterback for them to lose faith and ask for the next novelty player. The Cowboys had Romo the previous 3 years, yet there was no big fuss about him. Why? Because Bledsoe was playing well with 23 touchdowns and 17 interceptions (83.7 Passer Rating).
John Lynch: Stats speak for themselves here. He had zero interceptions, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 5 passes defensed, and 58 tackles. Not very good stats for a Pro Bowl free safety.
Lynch's Replacement: Kerry Rhodes hands down. Rhodes is an amazing player on a Cinderella Jets team. Rhodes had 4 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 13 passes defensed, and 75 tackles. Amazing stats, and not awarded a Pro Bowl berth.
Why Lynch Was Picked: He's John Lynch. Beloved by Denver and Tampa Bay. Super Bowl winner. Charismatic smile. Good guy. And consistent producer, but not Pro Bowl caliber this year. He was the most well known by the fans who go through the ballot. No one knew Kerry Rhodes, but that will soon change.

Ryan Leaf is right. The Pro Bowl is a farce. Just elect the team and leave it at that, then you don't have to find a bunch of injury replacements for players that suddenly develop aches and pains when they're expected to play in the Pro Bowl.
If they just picked the team and didn't play the game, Romo would never have sniffed a Pro Bowl berth. But I believe he was a second injury replacement, which makes him the fifth-best QB in the NFC. There are only 16 teams in the NFC, and when you throw out the QBs that just plain stink and the ones that legitimately got hurt during the season, how many do you really have to pick from? This is the reason Romo was a Pro Bowler, and the reason the game is a farce.
