SEC Football Forecast '08

Good link to an article from a recent edition of The Gainesville Sun. Go to:

http://www.gainesville.com/article/20080503/NEWS/14059949/1016/SEC_football_forecast

I'm sure that they'll be some Gator Haters out there who'll quickly dismiss this link as just Gator propoganda, but give it a chance. Thanks

When they predict Georgia winning the SEC, then I would not think it is Gator propoganda.

I think people underestimate Florida b/c of last season even though this year's Gator team will have better rushing w/ their RB's and a better secondary. UF will be very strong, and it will either be UGA or UF to win the SEC east.

Doesn't seem like Gator propoganda to me. I do question some of the predictions though, especially the Tennessee one.

Also, I think the writer of the article is putting too much emphasis on how some of the quarterbacks did during the spring games. Quarterbacks have to work on pocket presence during those games because it's pretty much touch football for them. Only the fast, Vince Young-esque type of quarterback can really scramble around effectively in those games in my opinion. Tim Tebow, who the article said had a better pocket presence, would run you over before he juked you out, but he can't do that in a spring game.

Overall it's a good article though. Thanks for the link.

Its all SEC propaganda!!!!! Down with the SEC!!!!

The East looked accurate to me but the West...................Please! Alabama winning the West? Arkansas just lost DFad and Jones. Auburn is rebuilding. Here's the correct order:

LSU
Alabama
MSU
Auburn
U of M Ole Miss
Arkansas

I know that we lost RP but LSU has a stable of running backs and Lee and Hatch are strong QB's that can manage the games until they get their feet wet. Matt Flynn played in a few games before his senior year and was a bowl MVP but how much "experience" did he have before he took the reigns as the QB for the National Champions?

They should give Ohio State honorary middle of the SEC status.

and at middle of the road, they'd still finish ahead of UK every year

The author needs to quit smoking crack. The west is all jacked up. The good news is that predictions don't mean anything, and it will all get settled on the field. Counting LSU as the #3 team in the west will be costly for anyone in the conference. The Perrilloux thing is not as big as ESPN would like it to be. LSU has never won a championship with a great quarterback; they win them with smart, average quarterbacks.

The fact that they have georgia winning the East and the SEC champ negates any possible way that thia is gator propaganda. I would actually argue that somehow a sports writer in Athens managed to hack this website and implant this article!

I think Saban will do well in his second year at Bama. Saban did win the SEC in his second year.

LSU should be AT LEAST number two in the west though. I think people overrate Auburn. They're learning a new offensive system, so they won't be on point quite yet. Auburn's D will be there, but their D was there last year too.

win the SEC in his second year * at LSU

Maybe I should have lit a real fire under this blog by posing the never ending question of which conference is better: SEC or Big Ten? I'll save it for the fall. Thanks to all for reading and commenting.

RUGator,

There's no need to save it for the fall. I think national titles and bowl records speak for themselves.

You're preaching to the choir : )

Florida and Georgia will fight it out in the east. LSU will stil be the team to beat in the west with Bama and Auburn at their heels.

East- UGA
West- LSU
