Last night, I was watching ESPN's "Who's numer 1?" And it was the ten greatest coaches ever, I thought I am gonna think outside the box, I am rounding out the top 50. Be very prepared for some MD homerism
50. Ralph Friedgeon- He has won 3 bowls and lost two as a coach, all in this decade. He has won 56 games this decade as the head coach at Maryland, he was an assistant at Georgia Tech before that, and had great success, being 6-3 in bowl games.
49. Johnny Majors- He compiled a record at the NCAAF ranks of 185-137-10. 9-7 bowl record.
48. Brian Billick- You think homer? I think not. He compiled an awesome mark with the Baltimore Ravens of 80-64, a postseason mark of 5-3, and a win Super Bowl. He also powered the offense that scored the second most points in a season (98 Vikings). The fact that he couldn't score them in Baltimore, where he was the head coach, is what brought him down.
47. Dave Petramala- You might say who? He is the head coach of Johns Hopkins lacrosse. He has won two national championships at the helm, and he went undefeated in 2005. He is one of the only people EVER to win a championship both as a player and a coach.
46. Dennis Green- His days with the Vikings stand out the most to me, forget Arizona, focus on the 15-1 1998.
This is it, just something different to think about.
