Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's Los Angeles Times piece on the 1968 Olympic boycott possibility and its connection to 2008 has generated a wealth of reader comments on Abdul-Jabbar's blog at LATimes.com. Good reading on a balanced, measured response to the current political situation from one of our most venerated sports legends.

Boycott questions: 1968 vs. 2008 - The Kareem Abdul-Jabbar blog

I'm a pretty big Kareem fan, by the way - he's an impressive and thoughtful person aside from his astounding athletic gifts. He gave the commencement address at his alma mater, UCLA, last year - if somebody can find the full text of the speech online I'd be glad to post it here - it's a great read.
