DCSN's True Media Stories | I've Been On this Site for a Long, Long Time, That's Why

Seeing as I've been classified a "Grandpa" on this group site, I figured it was time to start behaving like one. So, ala Hova's "40/40 Club", I begin a weekly feature on here.

Now the reason I don't put this in my "RFA" blog is simply, well, the subject matter makes me feel like a frickin' geezer anyway. To wit, our debut story:

There's an old "Dick Van ****" episode that deals with Rob Petrie having written a song..."Bupkis". (For our non-Hebrew crowd, "bupkis" means "nothing") Actually, the lyrics go:

"What do you get from love? Bupkis..."

OK, so far so good. Now, the payoff...

The fictional group credited with singing the song, the "Bang-Bangs", is in reality...Dick and DeeDee. WHO, you're asking yourselves, are they?? Well, they had a hit back in "63 called "The Mountain is High"; yes, it was a #1 record.

You learn these things by reading closing credits...sometimes.

So anyway, the next time you find yourself flipping around the channels and you suddenly run across that old "DVD" episode...you now have a story to tell your kids/grandkids.

I'm the Sports Nut, and this has been a "Real Media Story". Until next week...

At least you guys knew what I was saying. Besides, all I ever saw of the show were reruns...it went off CBS when I was 8. (Yes, do the math.)
