A Great Fit for Wells

I have the best idea for the Yankees, sign David Wells, put him in the minors, and make his fellow pitchers around him better and more informed. David Wells won't want to do this but it is a start. Mike Mussina can't do it because he is young enough to still play in the majors. Even though Jamie Moyer is like 100 years old! Ian Kennedy and Phil Hughes need some form of a guiding light in their journey. David Wells wants to go out with a bang. What better bang than to see a HOF pitcher successfully try to make two prodigees into HOF pitchers. Right? Mariano and Joba, the old and the new, Wells and Kennedy/Hughes, the old and the new.

He may be able to do what Kenny Rogers did for Detroit's young pitching staff in 2006. He'd have to have the right attitude, though.
