The Mule train has been derailed.
The Detroit Red Wings scratched center Johan Franzen for Game 2 Saturday night and Game 3 Monday of their Western Conference final against the Dallas Stars because of what the team described as "concussion-like symptoms."
Franzen, nicknamed The Mule, has been a revelation on the Red Wings' second line, leading the playoffs with 12 goals to continue a tear that started late in the regular season. In his past 27 games, Franzen has 27 goals.
Detroit said Franzen has been experiencing recurring headaches since early in the second-round series against Colorado.

If this guy is missing games this deep in the playoffs, with a Conn Smythe trophy on the line... its serious. His would be a huge loss to any team, including the very, very deep Wings.
Only worse injury at this point would be Lidstrom or Osgood... who may just end up with a suspension for his idiotic behavior. In a perfect world, his coach would bench his ass for instigation, disrespectful behavior, and unsportsmanlike conduct regardless of how Ribeiro stupidly responded.
I'm a Wings fan, but I hope they both get suspensions for swinging sticks at each other. That kind of crap is going to get someone maimed or killed some day, and the league needs to step up.

kriley - if it's so easy, why don't the Stars (or other teams) do it? Why would you need a Wings jersey?
Parrothead34 - I agree, both Ozzie and Ribs should be fined heavily and suspended for at least one game. What they did is not hockey - at least not the kind of hockey I have followed for over a half century.

Fined, not suspended. From the NHL tonight. They are not suspended for Game 3.

You guys can criticize Osgood (and rightfully so) but that does not excuse what Robiero did. Swinging a stick near someone's chest/neck is inexcusable. Also, before you criticize Osgood too much, how is that very different from punching someone in the back of the head (Turco) or tripping someone skating backwards when the play isn't even close to you (again Turco). Does this mean that Holmstrom gets a free two-hander to the Stars goalie?
