Watching the Phillies-Mets game. First off, whoever put a wall just beyond the wall was an idiot. What a poor stadium design.
But more importantly, the umpires appeared to change a call based on what was shown on the scoreboard. Isn't that instant replay? Isn't there no instant replay in baseball? And if the umpires use instant replay for one call, shouldn't they be using it for others?
Next inning, the Mets runner interferred with the play by running so far inside the basepath (did he think the pitcher's mound was first?) that the Phils' defense couldn't cleanly field or make a play on the runner. Guy should have been called out.
The umpiring for this series has been about the worst I've seen in ages, on both sides. The plate umpires can't consistently call strikes. They aren't sure what's happening out on the field. It's ridiculous.
