Sporting events that shaped America

No rankings, because they should be treated equally. With the upmost respect as what they accomplished.

  • 1980 U.S. vs. U.S.S.R. is the semi's of the hockey Olympics. The college brats vs. the greatest Olpmpic team, if not the greatest team, ever. Blowout? The U.S. won 4-3. Capped off by Al Michaels famous line, "Do you believe in miracles?, Yes!" The thing that made it more special than it already was, is the fact that we had been in the Cold War with them for about 20 years.
  • 2001 World Series. Delayed a week because of the NY misfortune on 9/11, the NY Yankees took the field verses the Arizona Diamondbacks. Even though the D-Backs won in 7, this was one of the greatest and most heart warming games (in my opinion).
  •  Patriots winning the 2001 Super Bowl. Patriots winning the Super Bowl after 9/11 just says something, the PATRIOTS. Spygate or not, the Patriots.
  • Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier of the MLB while racism was still alive and in full force. Black athletes are everywhere now, thanks to Jackie. He meant so much to the game. Would there be hispanics in baseball today if he had never been here as well as black athletes too?

Just some food for the thought, thank you for your time.
