When I first heard Mike D'Antoni had passed up the Bulls for the Knicks, I thought "That is a terrible career move." I then tried to think if there was a coach I would think made the right move in going to Knicks. One did not come to mind right away
What makes the Knick job so unappealing is the roster. A lot of mediocre parts making too much money, but it will be Walsh's job to fix that. For the Knicks, though, D'Antoni is a great get. They now have a guy who runs one of the most exciting systems in pro sports in a city looking for a reason to love its team. If the Knicks can get the point guard to run D'Antoni's system, the Knicks could be on their way to being one of the most fun teams to watch in the NBA.
Now, let me put on my NBA Conspiracy Hat. It is the NBA's best interest to have the lottery work out in such a way where Memphis' Derrick Rose, the best point guard in this June's draft, goes to the Knicks. This would give D'Antoni and Walsh the base they need to start rebuilding things in NYC. And who could blame the NBA really if they fixed the draft this way? Not only would New York be on its way to having a competitive team, but it would be AN EXCITING team. Now, I am of course just joking about fixing drafts, but Rose would be a nice piece of luck for the Knicks. This would save them from trading a young core part to get a point guard to D'Antoni's liking or signing some mediocre, costly free agent. Rose is the perfect solution.
I am generally not one to throw any sort of sympathy to a big market team, but I am a fan of NBA ???and not a fan of one particular team. I would like to see an NBA where Boston, New York, and LA are all good, entertaining teams competing for championships.
David Stern, just put in the fix ... again.

You could have wrote this better but I agree with you. It may be time for Stern to manipulate the Draft to the Knicks benefit again.
