Five to One-The Doors

You'll never see The Doors sound more dark and almost evil then in this song. In the studio version Jim Morrison was completely wasted(for the first twenty seconds or so you can hear a studio person telling him when to sing) and he sang it really weird. I highly recomend listening to the album version if you havn't already. After Riders on the Storm, this is (currently) my favorite Doors song. What's the song talking about? No one knows for sure. Many think its the ratio of Viet Cong to American troops, the ratio of soliders that died in Nam, the number of whites to blacks in the US, the ratio of young to old, or the ratio of non-pot smokers to pot smokers. I guess its up to you. 

Brighton Rock-Queen 

Here's an early Queen song that isn't well known. It features an insane extended solo from Brian May. Also of note to check out the horrible 70s outfits and hair. 

A Quick One, While He's Away-The Who

This likely has been posted before, but I don't care nor do I have the patience to see if it was. Anyways, this is an multi part epic that was the The Who's first delve into a rock opera type song. This song tells the story of Tommy's parents.  This version is from the Rolling Stones' Rock and Roll Circus, where all agreed The Who destroyed the Stones. I've seen this called the finest performance in rock history.

2 Minutes to Midnight-Iron Maiden

Iron Maiden made fantastic videos, and this is no exception. The chorus is just awesome. 

Personal Jesus-Depeche Mode

This isn't really a rock song per se, but its a song that I'm obsessed about right now. Everything about this song is perfect. Plus, its got a frackin breathing solo! The whole album it comes from is great.
