again the finals have rolled around, and the only reason anyone cares about them is one word: Lebron. the fact of the matter is, the NBA is falling fast, and there is only one solution. Stern must give the players more leniancy as far as flagrant fouls and contact in general. We all saw the flagrant Gooden threw last night when he dragged that Spur to the ground, and I'm pretty sure that was a flagrant. But Stu Jackson has gone way too far in his punishment for fouls and hard plays. In the aftermath of the Palace Hills brawl and the Nuggets-Knicks brawl at the beginning of this season, Stern and Jackson have become so preoccupied with keeping a clean image that they have changed the game to a wussified, bastardized version than what existed five or ten years ago.
the solution is simple: tell the refs to back off on calls in the paint, especially at the end of games and to reduce the amount of flagrants and technicals called. Basketball is a contact sport, but recently it has been turned into a bunch of guys taking free throws on every possession. Please, Stern and Jackson. Give us back good, hard basketball.
