I was raised with the voice of the Boston Celtics - Johnny Most and his famous calls: "that was a vicious foul by Lambeer - he mugged him" - Sam Jones #24 with the bank shot, Satch Sanders on defense- Big Bill Russel from San Francisco State #6 - The Bird Man ('from way downtown Bird - its good") - Cousy behind the back - Heinson coming off the bench - Frank Ramsey with a hook shot - "Jungle Jim Lustacoff is chasing him into the stands and going after him with a chair" - "Havilchek stole the ball". Yup, I grew up listening to Johnny Most on the radio - even if the game was on TV we let Johnny tell the story as only he could with his raspy voice and totally biased view of the game. But my heart has always been with the Red Sox - Frank Malzone - Pistol Pete Runnels - Dick "Stone Hands" Stuart - Ken Harrelson, The Hawk - Bill Momboquette - Spaceman Bill Lee- Yaz and Conigliaro and Lynn and Rice - Dwight Evans -Carlton Fisk sends us to game 7 - Don Buddin - Pumpsie Green - Curt Gowdy and a bottle of Schlitz. - make that a 6-pack of Miller Highlight to wash away Bill Buckner's debacle; Big Papi keeps us awake late while rallying the Sox over the Yankees. As for hockey, I cannot skate very well, but in Boston one could not ignore the Bruins and #4 Bobby Orr ( 2 speeds - "here he comes and there he goes") and his Stanley Cup teammates - Derek Sanderson - Wayne Cashman - Johnny Bucyk - Pie Mckensie - Cheevers - Phil Esposito in the slot - Don Awrie .- Ted Green (got hit with the puck in the head which led to mandatory helmets). As for the Pats --- they seem to be on their way to a special season this year, and Brady finally has weapons that may give him his first regular season MVP's. While I love the Pats, I grew up following the NY Giants - Tight End Del Shofner #85 Catcavage, YA Tittle, - Sam Huff - Rosie Grier - Frank Gifford , # 20 Jim Patton - the real football players. As for soccer and the New England Revolution --- sorry, I only like Paul Revere and the New England Revolution he announced. This is Larry B from Boston.

In other news, Senator Specter has learned that Russians are now playing in the NHL, and that many US professional hockey players are crossing over the ???red line??? in every game. Following the footsteps of Joe McCarthy, Specter plans to launch Congressional hearings on the infiltration of communism into the National Hockey League.

Report Offensive CommentLarry B, I commended you in the comments section of T&R earlier today and I do it again here with this similar blog post. The fact that this point is hardly a secret (that Specter receives large contributions from these cable companies), and people still do not agree with you (or me) shows you how stupid America has become - no matter what your political affiliation (not trying to make this a republican bashing). How anyone can defend this guy scares the heck out of me as an American. Part of the problem with Kerry or Kennedy is some of the major media corporations (some of which ironically are cable news stations) have destroyed these two beyond fairness and balance in recent years and too many Americans depend on these sources for their information to then make decisions on.
Thanks again for your blog post.

Report Offensive CommentWhy are you getting on Specter? He's just trying to uncover the truth about all this crap. It's the Patriots who blantantly cheated & should have an astericks like Bonds by their winning records

Report Offensive CommentThis is a good blog. It's well written and has just the right touch of sarcasm. "Well done!"
For the record, Mr. Specter is going to be up for re-election shortly and thus is trying to keep his name in the news and in the publics mind. Thus making it easier for him to garner capital for his election expenses and votes come election day.
What Mr. Specter doesn't yet comprehend is that most of America doesn't even care about spygate any more. We have an attention span that lasts all of 30 seconds.
Mr. Specter would be better served and would garner more support if he were to push for and investigate the BCS committee. Enough said.

Report Offensive CommentWe should investigate who spiked Specter's chemo first.
At least something stopped him from mercilessly plugging his book.

Report Offensive CommentI question Specter's integrity. His "magic bullet" theory from the JFK assassination investigation is the biggest crock of crap ever spoonfed to the public. He should be accountable for what he was trying to cover up! I f he wants "truth" from the Patriots then perhaps he should provide some "truth" to the citizens of the United States of America!

Report Offensive CommentVery good points Larry B... Why is this senator not fighting to investigate all of the atrocities that has happened since the war, but wants to investigate a football team? He doesn't address the economy and how bad it is doing... I've never heard him address the Katrina tragedy in New Orleans; Not even a get well soon shoutout to Ted Kennedy after having his seizures, and being hospitalized... NOTHING!!! This guy is a joke and not worhthy to be a senator... Obviously he doesn't care about the interest of the American people, only his special interests!!!!
