Is anybody giving any thought to what is going to happen when Dayne Crist enrolls at Notre Dame? It might not be at the beginning of the season like it was last year, however, I think something will happen mid way. My prediction will be the North Carolina game that Crist will get some productive playing time. Crist is 6'5" and 200 lbs. He is very athletic and will give Clausen a run for his money by mid season and probably the rest of their college careers. Anyone that watched the high school all star game could see there's also another big offensive threat this year; Michael Floyd who is 6'3" and 190 lbs. Crist and Floyd seem to "click" well together in the all star game which might give Crist an edge over Clausen with already being familiar with Floyd.

Crist is in a weird spot. Weis, due to his actions last season, is tied pretty heavily to Jimmy Clausen. However, if Crist comes in and really pushes Clausen and Jimmy struggles this season, then he has to go to Crist.
I'm not sure if Crist plays this season, because I think Jimmy will be OK at QB but I am interested to see how this thing plays out.

Report Offensive CommentClausen is going to start and will have to work hard to keep the job. Crist maybe bigger, faster, and stronger, but he lacks what Clausen has: one year of experience at ND. That is to Clausen's advantage. The job is for him to lose, not for Crist to take from him. However, if the O-line doesn't block and the running game is non-existent, then it doesn't matter who is QB.
