So I started an over under throwdown for MLB and wanted to see how many wins or losses the teams had. To do this I went to the standings on MLB.com. There I found an interesting unexpected placement in the leauges.
What i found was how that in all but one of the divisions the two heavy weights were polar oppisites.
Al East- The top two teams were supposed to be the Yankees and the Red Sox. Well my Red Sox are doing their part being tied with the Rays for first place. However, the Yanks are strugiling like they usually do early and are in last place.
AL Central- This was supposed to be a great race between the Indians and the Tigers with the lsoer possibly getting the Wild Card. Well the Indians thanks to some awesome pitching lately are doing their part being in first place. On the other hand the Tigers are once again doing dreadful and are in last place with a .395%.
AL West- Now here the top two teams from last year made some big offseason aqquisitions. The Angels and the aqquired Tori Hunter are flourishing even without two top pitchers for a while. They have a 25-20 record and are first in the division. Then the Mariners and Eric Bedard are struggiling mightily. Right now they are in last place by 7.5 games.
NL Central- Cubs and Brewers are the only teams you heard about as contendors before the season started. Well the Cubbies are playing great and are in first place. The Brewers on the other hand don't have the offense of last year and are in last place 6 games behind the Cubs.
NL West- Here was supposed to be a four team race between the D-Backs, Dodgers, Rockies, and Padres. Well the D-Backs are the best team in the leauge and look like they have a good chance o win it all. On the other side there is the worst team in baseball the Padres who can't seem to find any pithing or offense from anyone but peavy. In second place there are the Dodgers being led by Furcal's monster year. They are doing what is expected but there counterparts( the Rockies) have 2nd worst record in leauge.
