Good Monday morning everyone, lets get right into pickups...
Freddy Sanchez:
Most fantasy owners have stayed away from him this season, and I think it's time to go and get him. His last 3 series' he's 3/15 but had 6 RBI Vs Atlanta, 4/15 with 2 RBI & 2 R Vs St Louis, and 5/13 with 3 R Vs Chicago. Not electrifying numbers, but he's hitting and being productive enough for those of you who need help with the 2B/MI positions. Last year he had a slow start, but still ended up over .300. He might not ever get back up to that .344 he hit back in'06, but he could help raise your team AVG.
Aaron Hill:
In many leagues, people are giving up on him. If this is the case in your league, go get him. He's got a 7 game hitting streak going right now (he's also scored a run in 5 straight), and since May 1st he's only gone hitless in a game just 3 times. He doesn't seem to be hitting with any power right now, but he, like Sanchez, is being productive enough for you to take a chance on him if you need 2b/MI help.
Jay Bruce:
This is a no-brainer for those of you who need help just about anywhere for your offense. The story came out early last week that he may be called up soon. That caused a small craze for Bruce and he was gobbled up in many leagues. But, now many of those teams have dropped him because it hasn't happend yet. If he's free, get him! He is still tearing up AAA pitching. His last 10 games in the minors he's hitting .500 (17/34) with 5 HR 12 RBI 12 R and 1 SB. On the year now that's .363 (58/160) 10 HR 36 RBI 32 R 8 SB. He's going to get the call soon, make sure he's on your roster when that happens.
Chad Tracy:
Heads up! Tracy is looking to be back by the end of this week. Get him if you're weak ad 3B/CI. It might be tough for Arizona to find a place for him to play. He could end up being trade bait, which, depending on where he goes, could really raise his stock.
Scott Downs:
If he's available in you're league, get him! He's getting the save opps if Ryan has pitched on consecutive days. He's got 5 this year so far. He's also got 19 K in 18.2 IP a 2.41 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP. If you need saves or help with your k's/9 he's a good option, one of the few out there.
Jose Contreras:
He starts tomorrow Vs Cleveland. On the year he's 4-3 with a 3.35 ERA and a 1.19 WHIP. His last 2 starts he's gone 7IP each and allowed just 1 run in each. He looks to be at the very least on pace to have a season like he had in '06 (13-9 134K 4.27 ERA 1.27 WHIP). If you're one of those guys who is looking at their pitchers this morning, and it gives you morning sickness, take a flier on Contreras.
Ok, thats it for today, I'd get into some to stay away from, but I don't see anyone worth mentioning right now, and I'm out of time. I'll talk to you all tomorrow. Have a great night of Fantasy Baseball!
