Not Sexy Enough for Prime Time

In the Spring of 2008, Florida Coach Urban Meyer initiated a mentor program for young at-risk males. Working with the African American Accountability Alliance of Alachua County task force known as BLAQUE (Bold Leaders, Achieving Quality, Unity and Excellence), the program partnered 15 area middle school children with a Gator football player and a community leader. The goal to effect change in the lives of at-risk black youth (as reported on www.secsports.com).

More people need to do something like this. So many youth of my race need to have good examples in their lives.

Yeah. This needs to happen much more often. Kudos to Coach Meyer for doing this. I just hope more colleges, and even professional teams, start doing something like this.
