It's less than 24 hours to the start of the Stanley Cup finals, and thus the last blog on here for awhile. But before I put this place into "slumber" mode for the summer, time to give my prediction on the series.

Let's face it, both the Penguins and Red Wings proved they deserve to play for Lord Stanley's trophy throughout these playoffs. Even though (as a lifelong Caps fan) I should despise both these teams...Detroit for sweeping the Caps in the finals 10 years ago, and the Pens for, well, being the Pens...instead I have respect for them.

But I have to be honest and say, in my view, that Pittsburgh has the firepower and the will to come out on top. It'll take 7 games, but in the end it'll be Sidney Crosby and company hoisting the Cup this time. Hey, if I'm wrong...I'm wrong. I don't think I am, though.

Now, I'd like to make a request of all the Pens and Wings fans on here. Good-natured back-and-forth is one thing; obnoxious behavior is another. Let's keep it in the 1st category, shall we?? Having said my peace, good luck to both teams.

I totally agree..., Sid the Kid hoists the Cup in seven. I do respect the Wings defense, even though Lidstrom and Co. are older and more experienced playoff wise but Pittsburgh's defense has come through. This is going a great series..., even if you're not a Wings or Pens fan, watch this series! Great blog DC.

Detroit blasted the penguins today 5-0 and looks to sweep the penguins in 4 straight games

I don't know...It seems that the main question is whether the experience factor is a factor or not, and with the great D by the Wings that may be enough even for a sweep. But I think Red Wings in 6, and next season the Wings or Stars will face the Caps in the finals, assuming all the Washington FAs stay.

On the Caps, JKL, I'll go along. NEXT year, the Cup final is ours.
Melvin, the series moves to Pittsburgh tonight (Wednesday)...so this should be tied at 2 games apiece after this. I still say Pens in 7, and I'm sticking with that.
This SHOULD be better tonight than it has been of late.
