Rangers FC better get used to second place.  They'll be there for a while.

The Huns had a 7 point lead going into April.  They finished the season 3 points behind Celtic.  Celtic won 8 straight games to claim the league and an automatic spot in the UEFA Champions League.  At least Rangers beat Queens of the South for the Scottish Cup, which in today's soccer world is meaningless for a team at the top of the table anyways.

The Huns lost to Aberdeen 2-0 on May 22nd and Celtic beat Dundee United 1-0 and claimed the league title for the third consectutive season.  Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink headed in the ball off of a corner kick to claim the win and the league title.

This league win is one of the most crucial wins in Celtic FC history.  If somehow the Huns would have won, Celtic would have had to qualify for the UEFA Champions League, but now they have a guaranteed spot.  For the 2007-08 Champions League, Celtic had to beat Spartak Moscow to qualify, meaning they were not one of the top 16 teams in the tournament so to speak.

Group D was the best group in the tournament with AC Milan, Benfica, and Shakhtar Donetsk joining Celtic in the group.  Celtic won all of their home games, letting them move on.

Since they have automatically qualified, there is a good chance they could be the best team in their group.  Celtic has always had a bad draw in the knockout round.  In 2006-07, they got AC Milan, who would then go on to win the championship after narrowly escaping Celtic.  In 2007-08, they got Barcelona, probably the deepest team in Europe.  Now it looks like they could be the team no one wants to draw.

The Huns now are clearly the 2nd best team in the Scottish Premier League.  Celtic prospered after getting Andreas Hinkel and Georgias Samaras during the January transfer period.  With those two playing a full year in hoops, Celtic is by far the favorite for next year.

Sorry, Rangers.  Maybe next year?  Nah.  OH THE RANGERS ARE SHlTE!
