I was really becoming a Penguins fan....really. That is not a joke. I really liked what they were doing by being that puck possession type team that is dangerous everytime they have the puck. The "youngsters" who are challenging everybody to play to their level. They have been fun to watch, until now. Late in the third period with the game out of hand, Pittsburgh turned into the '75 Flyers. The team decided, lets go get some blood since we are getting embarrassed. Roberts shouldn't play the rest of the series. What kind of guy goes after someone who is just coming back from a concussion with a punch to Franzen' head. It wasn't like it was a check or a good open ice hit. It was a cheap shot and he needs to go. It was clearly an intent to injure Franzen. He gets the "Chief Punk of the night" award.
Now it looks like it's time to "Run into Osgood time". We can't score on him so lets ram him and maybe we can get one by him. Some are saying he's diving. Frustration has really come to full circle with the Pens. If you think about it, they had PLENTY of scoring chances and just blew it. Malkin and Malone had unbelievable chances and couldn't get it done. There is still hope that Pittsburgh can save face in all of this. They can go back and skate hard and play "tough hockey", not "cheap hockey".
I know this won't sit well with Pittsburgh fans but you watched the same thing I did. They don't have to play like this. They ARE better than this. I want them to play like they have been in the other games by skating hard and playing good, tough, fast paced hockey. There is no need for the junk that took place late last night. They won't be able to bully the Wings. You can beat the Wings by scoring on the chances you get and they had a few of them last night. Fleurry needs to be better. Malkin needs to grow up and not say "I'm tired". Hossa needs to come out of wherever he's been hiding. The defense can't let guys like Filppula come in and make a move and score. The Wings are getting goals from Who? Samuelson, Filppula, Stuart.... It's time for Pittsburgh's other guys to step up when the big boys can't get it done. That's been the difference so far in the series.

Gary Roberts' so-called "punch" to Franzen's head was a shove really, and Franzen took a dive after . He looked like he was very carefully laying down on the ice . It resembled slow motion as I watched it live . The Osgood "hit" looked far worse than it was . If you look at the replay of the live broadcast camera angle, you'll see that Ossie throws his left arm out in front of the Pittsburgh skater at the last second, with no other possible outcome than that Ossgood himself would be dragged across the corner of the goal and go down . So you can probably chalk that one up as a dive too .
The Pens pulled themselves together a bit in the latter half of the second; and more still in the third period . I think we're likely to see more of a fight in Pittsburgh . I hope so - this has been the most boring Stanley Cup Final in recent memory .

Anyway you look at it Roberts was wrong. If one of the Wings would have punched Crosby to the head, especially the way Roberts did, they would have been fined and probably not dressing for the game tomorrow. You know this as well as anyone else would. My point was there was no need for him to do this, period. It made the Pens look very desperate, which they are, but they didn't need to do this with the game almost over.

yeah, the Pends are getting frustrated. They're taking cheap shots, and Detriot isn't retaliating, which is getting them more frustrated. Taking cheap shots at a guys head is pretty low. No class at all. I hope the Wings bury them.

There was no "Punch" - watch the replay . On the cheapness of it: I hereby stipulate to the fact that it was not only cheap, but stupid as well . To put things in some kind of perspective before we all break into "Cumbaya", I would point out that punching another guy in the head is a regular occurence during a hockey game . In fact, some fans feel jipped if they don't see a guy get punched in the face during a hockey game .
I would also offer the advice that if you pay attention, you may notice the officials don't necessarily call all the same infractions in a finals (or playoffs) game that they might call during the regular season . They tend to "let the boys play", so like it or not, Stanley Cup hockey is a different game as is often stated .
As for Red Wings retaliating, they got in some serious shots . Filpula got away with a blatant high stick early on that the officials reviewed and attributed to the injured guy's teammate's stick blade - apparently my DVR is better than the equipment the NHL has .

As a Pens fan, I can tell you and I am sure I speak for a majority of Pens fan when I tell you, WE DON'T WANT YOU as a Pens fan. Your clearly clueless about a vast amount of things that go on in this game and if your finding fault with your "so called" favorite team then there is no room for you in this fan base. Detroit is taking liberties with Crosby and Malkin and not getting called for nearly as many penalties. Osgood is a DIVER if I have ever seen one....who falls after clothes lining their opponent, I have only ever seen that happen in the WWE and that my friend is a lot of staged falls and thumps. Stick to the Cavs and leave us a Pens fans alone.

Who are you - Saddam Hussein's minister of information ? I think you just heard some truth spoken and you CHOOSE not to listen . It is a short-coming of this type of site that it instills and promotes the practice of mindless gain-saying for the sake of stirring up argument . Just stamp your foot twice if you understand .
