Joey Porter has been too busy running his mouth his entire career to live up to his full potential. With only 65 tackles and a disappointing 2007 season, Porter decided to take his frustrations out by criticizing the Patriots and Bill Belichick. Porter made remarks stating that the Patriots should receive an asterisk next to their three Superbowl wins because they may have cheated in order to win. This is the same Joey Porter that was voted the 2nd dirtiest player in the NFL by other players in 2006. This is also the same Joey Porter that attacked Cleveland Browns offensive tackle at a casino in 2007. Jones did not have a chance as Porter and his six friends swarmed him and supposedly stole his jewelry as well.
Despite Porter's own troubles with both the law and the league, he believes that he has earned the right to publicly criticize an organization in the Patriots and an individual in Bill Belichick that has already been punished by the NFL. While, yes, Belichick will receive an extra 500,000 bonus at his next contract extension to make up for what he had to pay the NFL, the Patriots also lost a valuable first round pick. Maybe Porter does not think the loss of a first round pick is enough punishment, but, I'm sure the Patriots wish they could get that back. Draft choices are the most critical tool a coach has for building his franchise, and the most valuable thing Roger Goodell could strip of the Patriots.
I am a diehard Carolina Panthers fan and I watched with amazement as the Panthers made it to the Superbowl in 2003. I was astonished how we turned it around from a 1-15 in 2001 and only 2 years later to win 11 games and make it to the Superbowl. Now, I know it's because most of our offensive line was on steroids. So, Bill, while you may have videotaped our walkthroughs and known all our offensive signals we're even because we were also cheating.
To everybody out there hating on Bill Belichick, it's only because you're jealous. Don't open your mouth unless you haven't ever cheated... on a test, in a game, on your wife or on your taxes because we're all in the same boat here and to pretend otherwise makes yourself look foolish.
