The Milwaukee Bucks are my favorite NBA team. There is absolutely no reason this team shouldn't be a playoff team. There's plenty of potential with this team. This blog is going to be a lot like my "Storming the Bastille" blog which was about fixing the Brewers. Now, however, my attention is being focused on fixing the Bucks.
So, first up I'm going to focus on what the Bucks should do during the draft. The popular decision seems to be taking Eric Gordon. I have some questions about taking him. Last year he disappeared at times. I think though that if the Bucks can't move up from 8 to get Brook Lopez then they should definitely take Gordon. Why take Lopez when this team already has some big men? Well, Lopez is great defensively and is an excellent rebounder and a pretty good low post scorer, which is what the Bucks need. If the Bucks can't get Lopez they should focus on trying to get a big man in the second round..or trading that pick for a post player. Or even this off season the Bucks should make an effort to sign Kurt Thomas. Thomas is a great interior presence. He could really help this team.
Earlier I wrote a blog about how I initially felt about Scott Skiles being hired as the Bucks head coach. I feel the exact same now as I did then. I feel that he'll be a great short term fix, and bring defense to this team, which it badly needs. He's not the kind of guy who should stay in one place for too long..because he's a bit overbearing at times. I think he'll bring much needed intensity and experience to this team. Larry K just wasn't bringing the intensity and energy that the Bucks need. I also I think that hiring John Hammond as General Manager was a great hire. He brings in a winning menatility. Which, again this team needs badly.
As far as getting rid of players goes the Bucks do need to make several trades. I think to specifically get rid of three players those three players are Mo Williams, Bobby Simmons and Michael Redd. I think drafting Eric Gordon should send every Bucks fan the signal that Michael Redd is gone. Eric Gordon is a great scorer just like Redd. But, the advantage that Gordon has over Redd is that Eric Gordon is a much better driver to the basket. Mo and Bobby need to go because neither of those guys are really living up to their contracts. Desmond Mason is a great scorer and driver again just like Gordon..I think that both D-Mase and Eric Gordon could be a pretty dynamic duo for the Bucks. As I said before the one big free agent move the Bucks should be made is if Brook Lopez can't be drafted is picking up Kurt Thomas.

Eric Gordon would be a great pick, he would help us in the front court area. Kurt Thomas would help us down low too, especially since Jianlian doesn't seem like he is going to have a good career. Dan Gadzurick needs to go too. Way overpaid, and doesn't help out much. Mo Williams is a good choice to get rid of. Michael Redd is a ballhog and takes horrible shots. Redd a great scorer? I disagree with that. When he takes good shots, he is good. He doesn't take good shots a lot...most of them are horrible shots that are just forced up there.
Bucks need help.

Good point. What I should have said is that Redd could be a great scorer if he focuses. But, as you said he doesn't really commit himself to being a great scorer and taking good shots. It seems though that taking good shots is tough for all of the Bucks players. I think Yi is going to have a decent career but no where near all of the hype that he got going into this season.

I am a hugh bucks fan and I know the BUCKS need to rebuild! They need to trade redd, trade mo because he is not a true point guard and shoots way too much, and Charlie V.
Dump! gadzuric and simmons and draft not eric gordon, but anthony randolph or the itallion. Gordon will be a flop in the NBA. WATCH out for Randolph he is the real deal in this draft

used to watch nearly every game even when they were losing during the transition from george karl to the terrys. but last season they lost me as a loyal watcher, hopefully they turn it around. their constant 4th quarter losses were ridiculous and it just looked like they gave up.
