Halfway into the 07' season, teams are begainning to show their true merrit. Currently, my power rankings of the best five, first to last are as follows.
Angles- Great rotaion, solid pop through middle of order behind Vlad Gurrero (MVP?). THE MOST IMPORTANT THING ABOUT FINDING A TEAM TO WIN IN OCTOBER is consistancy. These guys will never cool off and go into 4 or 5 game losing slides. Bottomline: Fear the Rally Monkey!
Tigers- Probably the second best rotation in baseball, and with Zumaya, Jones, Rodney, and possibly an addition in the form of Lidge, this is not the team you want to face late in the ball game, possibly the only team that could beat the Sox in late innings come october. Also, the lineup is the best offensivly in the game, with Inge (10hrs) hitting last. Nobody else has that kind of threat that deep in the order. Bottomline: As long as Shef shuts up and talks with the lumber, Detroit and it's fans are going to have a very pleasant summer.
Red Sox- The best rotation in baseball hands down. Pitching usually prevails in october, as it enables teams to stay in games. And you don't want to play this team in close games. Bottomline: nine times out of ten Mr. Clutch (Big Papi) and crew will prevail in a nailbiter
BrewCrew- Ben Sheets=best in bigs. Don't even try to argue that. Behind him, the rotation is solid, and Turnbow/Cordero make up the best setup, closer combo west of Detriot. The remind me of a National League version of the angels, lacking only the starting pitching depth. They have the pop, and the speed to win games in any fashion. Bottomline: Not only will they make the playoffs for the first time in well over a decade, but they make well make an apearance in the fall classic aswell.
Mariners- That's right this is not a typo. I didn't mean Mets, Indians, or Dodgers. The Mariners have arguably the best youngster in the game in Felix Hernandez. They put together a solid rotation behind him, nothing special, but they shouldn't be getting blown out. There lineup is what is driving factor behind this teams sucess. Ichiro is the beat table setter ever to play the game. Johjima is the best catcher in the league. Each of The infielders hits .300 or 30+ hrs. Raul Ibanez is also an allstar caliber outfielder. They, like the Tigers, can drive in runs consistantly from any part of their order. Bottomeline: it's gonna be a battle between the A's and Seattle all season long, but in the end, Ichiro will lead his club to the playoffs.

Uh...1. Zumaya and Rodney are injured, Zumaya may be out for the season.
2. The NL West is no cupcake. They have the DBacks, the Dodgers, and the Padres, who mysteriously didn't show up on this list.
3. The Mariners have a stong lineup, but it is far from great. No way can you say they're going to hit that well. That's and incredible feat.
4. The Devil Rays have a threat comparable to Inge on their BENCH; Elijah Dukes (10 HRs).
5. Seriously, how did the Padres not make this list. They might be the best team in baseball and definitely are in the top 5 - just look at that pitching...
aaaand 6. Putting the Cardinals at number 10 is a joke. They're at LEAST top 5...........ok not really. Top 20 though would be more like it...
Other than that the blog is good. Putting Seattle at number 5 was an interesting choice.

Putting the M's at #5 is an interesting choice. I like what they've done, and they've definitely been a surprise, but I have to say I think Felix Hernandez is a bit overrated at this point in his career. Seems very injury prone to me.
I wish I could agree that the Cards were that high, but I just can't do it...not with that pitching staff. When Carp and Mulder are back and healthy, you may be right.
