On the very first day of February, Memphis and Los Angeles pulled a deal on the one-and-only Pau Gasol, who is a one-time All-Star and 2006 FIBA World Championship MVP. Once the trade was first announced, many people beleived the aquisition was unfair. Even though I am a huge Lakers fannatic, I believe both teams were winners in this trade, and this is the reason why.....

They received just what they wanted for Gasol: cap space and young players.

The trade is only succesful if the Grizzlies use the draft picks and cap room to improve the team. Their track record suggests they won't.
