Well... What do you guys think?

Florida REALLY??? That's some BS right there. I mean they have Tebow and Harvin, but 4 losses last year can not be good enough for them to get the #1 rank in Athlon. I do like Fresno State, they are always a team to watch for in the WAC. Remember a couple years back when they almost beat undefeated USC. They played close against Boise State and Hawaii when they were undefeated. This team always plays well, and it's finally time they get some recognition

Well Mike, you have to keep in mind that they have an pretty favorible schedule, and you fail to mention that they will be getting Emanual Moody to take alot of the work load off of Tebow in the running game.

Athlon's happy fun time poll, does not count for anything. But is probably pretty accurate. After the first week of games, it won't be worth beans.

June 4, 2008  03:20 PM ET

thats messed up

June 4, 2008  03:37 PM ET

At least they didn't put Ohio St. no 1--no one wants to see that again.

June 4, 2008  05:02 PM ET

I figured that you UGA fans would be pissed off

June 4, 2008  08:50 PM ET

All I can say is bring it on! Florida is in the toughest conferance and will dominate it and win the SEC. It could possibly be Florida and Oklahoma in the national champioship game, and Florida will win.

June 4, 2008  11:41 PM ET

I feel that Bama got snubbed

June 5, 2008  12:39 AM ET

clemson big sleeper. lots of seniors coming back and a easy schedule should be back to greatness

June 5, 2008  01:16 AM ET

Whoever wins the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party will probably be ranked number one (as long as the winner only has one loss at most), so whichever team takes care of their business in Jacksonville should be highly ranked.

I have a feeling that two teams will go undefeated, and the SEC will get snubbed. Two SEC teams lucked their way into the title game b/c USC had to lose in '06 and WVU and Mizzou had to lose in '07, and I don't know if that'll happen again. I surely hope so for my team's sake.

June 7, 2008  12:37 AM ET

agreed LSUrocks they had the no.1 recruting class. But thats ok because these rankings mean nothing and Alabama will just prove how good they are with there play.

June 7, 2008  10:47 AM ET

WVU is placed well as the season goes on they will only rise up the ranks to ! But Florida I don't agree at all ! I go
1.Usc
2Georgia
3.Oklahoma
I like my boys WVU being at 7 even though i know they WILL rise they are going to have a really fast team this year and i mean the have Pat White and the explosive Noel Devine wow even better than Slaton and im a huge Slaton fan

June 7, 2008  11:38 AM ET

How is Auburn ranked no. 8? They have a new QB and a really young o line. They also lost some good players on defense. Auburn always starts the year way overrated and then has a early slip up to somebody like Miss. State.

June 7, 2008  07:36 PM ET

That's just the Bama fan in you talking Lakers#1, Auburn actualy has been quite underated the last few years at the beggining of the season and worked there way up, with the exception of 2003.

June 15, 2008  09:54 PM ET

WVU should be placed much higher....they are loaded offensively and Casteel will figure out a way to make the defense hard as nails...........However, Pitt still haunts us .....and West Virginia UNiversity haunts Oklahoma and will surprise any team west of the Ohio River............

June 18, 2008  04:48 PM ET

I can't wait for Auburn at Mountaineer field on a Thursday night at that!
Tony will be saying it's a great night to be a Mountaineer once again!

June 21, 2008  10:20 AM ET

OU is back big time in '08-'09 for a trip to Miami and the National Championship! Loaded w/ a highly balanced offensive attack and watch out for the defensive backs as well. Sam has a year beind him and will lead the nation in passing his SOONERS in many blow out wins. Two top Heisman candiates will reign from Norman, Sam Bradfor/QB and DeMarco Murray/RB. And do not forget the offensive line hogs, they are huge and learned a real valuable lesson against WV's small-but very fast defense in Fiesta Bowl. Many starters were out for that game so do not underestimate BOB& TEAM! Bill '75.

Whats wrong with Florida being at the top? Returning arguably two of the most potent offensive players(Tebow and Harvin), adding Moody at RB, the D now having a full season under the belt and adding Will Hill in Joiners spot. We stop the run this year and everyone in the nation should watch out. FLA @UGA in Jacksonville(neutral as we all know) is going to be the benchmark, probably better that the BCS championship game.

Mark my words.... Ohio State will be the preseason #1 and they will win the National Championship, you might not believe me now but just wait until September 13th when they go to LA and destroy USC. The Buckeyes only lost one player from their starting lineup from the team that went to the National Championship last year and they added the number one recruit in the nation, QB Tyrelle Pryor. Ohio State has more experience and more weapons than they did last year. This polls biggest mistake = not making Ohio State number 1, after that nothing really else matters!
