Closing Argument - Champion this, baller

The saying goes, "Defense wins championships!" Okay, but you better have a couple of go to guys in the game that can knock down the big shot and maybe, quite possibly, take over a game with his offense. I enjoy watching the Boston Celtics. This team has great heart, enthusiasm and more than anything, skills. everybody bought into the "Team" concept. Kevin Garnett evoked "Team" defense. Egos were checked in hopes of hardware; now up two games to nil versus the Los Angeles Lakers, game 7 in the Garden is inevitable. I say game 7 because for some reason in the NBA this post season home court seems like the place to be. Margins of victory shift some times as much as 40 points. Although the Lakers haven't a clue thus far on how to stop Paul "The Truth" Pierce, I'll bet the farm things like fouls, shooting touch and bench scoring will favor the home team. I don't think this kills the C's as much as the ability to close a game out does. At times they seem to lose focus and fall asleep at the wheel. And anytime number 24 is on the court, there's not a 20 point lead that is safe. I grew up in the era of Jordan and the Bulls, and they knew the importance of closing games, making a short series and winning hardware. The Celtics are in the drivers seat, I'd hate to see them crash and burn.
