Lakers Win Game Three 87-81 Series Now at 2-1 by www.jamestowncalif.com Sports 06/11/08 01:36:20 am Late Night Entertainment Show 4 http://www.youtube.com/jamestownncarolina
The Los Angeles Lakers come into Staples Center Game 3 in need of a win and they get the "W" 87-81. The Lakers win on a scrappy game. Kobe Bryant comes out the first quarter strong and scores 19 points in the first half. Kobe came out driving to the basket, and that is what the Lakers team strategy needs to do more in order to win this series take everything to the basket.
From 2-1 early the Lakers had most of the momentum. With the Teams tied at the end of the 1st quarter 20-20, the Lakers outscored the Celtics in the 2nd quarter 23-17. The Lakers had an 11 point lead, but the Celtics came back in the 3rd quarter and outscored the Lakers 25-17 take a 2 point lead at the end of the quarter. The Lakers outscored the Celtics 27-19 in the 4th quarter and that was the difference win by 6.
The Lakers as a team for the 1st three quarters were playing scrappy. The team made a lot of bad passes, allowed the Celtics to get second chance points from missed rebounds, and were also unable to stop Ray Allen from the perimeter whom scored 25 points for the game.
The Lakers were awful at the free throw line, and uncanny Kobe misses 2 in a row in the first half, and it was fortunate that the Lakers did get the win. In close games, the free throws do make a difference, and for some reason the Lakers as a team shot 21-34, 62%. Kobe goes 11-18 at the free throw line, and I don't know if it is sweaty palms from being nervous or what, but there have been a lot of shots that have slipped.
"It is Nervous Time" (ref C Hearn broadcaster), and the Lakers play well enough to get the win by 6 Game 3, but can they win the Championship playing this bad even though they won.
I'd like to say that even though Pierce was in foul trouble and scores only 6 points in the game, the refs were not consistent on the calls. Although at LA, the refs made some bad calls. I don't know what was worse, the officiating, or the color broadcasters on ABC, Van Gundy and Jackson? The Network place a coach and former player as color announcers expecting to get expertise, and it is the opposite.
The Lakers go 30-69 FG's, 6-14 3 point FG's for 43% total 43.5%. The Celtics shot the ball at 29-83 FG's, 8-18 3 point FG's 44% total 35%. The Lakers did what they have to do on defense by challenging the Celtics to make those outside shots, and Game 3 the Lakers defense did just that.
Kobe Bryant scores 36 points, but missed 7 foul shots. It was one starter and one bench player for the Lakers that stepped it up for the team to get the win, and Sasha Vujacic scores 20 points, 7-10 FG's, 3-5 from 3 point land, and he had a big game. Gasol scores 8 points for the Lakers, and he was also missing free throws late in the game. Gasol was not a factor offensively in the first half like he was Game 2, but good job for the effort. Odom scores 4 points with 9 rebounds, but the ball looked like it was slipping out his hand too. Lamar was in early foul trouble as he gets his 3rd foul at the beginning of the 2nd quarter.
Some of the bench players for the Lakers play was unsatisfactory if the team expects to win. Luke Waltons play was not good shooting over the rim with no points, but was a +12 plus/minus on 11 minutes played. Turiaf gets no points in 19 minutes of useless production. The Lakers bench players at the front court have had their problems playing against the Celtics, and luckily for the Lakers KG's shooting was also not good. Jordan Farmar played a good game for the Lakers making a clutch three and played good defense drawing a charge. Nice drive Jordan in the lane from the left playing aggressive all series. The Lakers Radmanovic scores 3 points even though he shaved.
KG didn't shoot the ball well all game goes 6-21 scores 13 points, Posey scores 9 points, House(what kind of name is House) scores 6 points going 2-3 from 3 point land, and Powe gets 1 point.

For the Lakers, Fisher scores 6 points, but did make a late in the game drive to draw the foul and make the free throws goes 4-4 FT's. Fisher will have to play better for the Lakers to be more efficient. It seemed as if all the Lakers are a bit tense, and Game Three it was Kobe as the Starter and Sasha from the Bench that gave the team that lift for the series to get to a 2-1. The Lakers go for the tie Thursday Night.
As a Lakers Fan, I am glad the team won, but I didn't like the way the team played Tuesday Night, and I thought it was a scrappy game. The Lakers get the win 87-81 series now at 2-1. MVP Kobe Bryant did what he needed to do for the Lakers to win taking it upon himself early in the game, and late in the game making hoops on drives and from the top of the circle taking the high percentage shots scores 36 points Game 3.
thank you.

Boston loses a game that many expected them to lose by only 6. Boston will stael one and finish as champs at Boston. The next game will have different results but they only need one in LA.

The Lakers needed one of the two games in BOS but were beaten back. As has been mentioned, the Celtics will win at least one game in LA (if not two) and close the series out. Kobe has his shot to prove he can do it without Shaq, but he's going to fall short of his goal once again.
