What I just finished watching for the last four hours, stretches the limits of sports credulity and perhaps will never again be seen again in my lifetime. I thought I had seen almost it all. But the spectacle put on by Tiger Woods in today's third round of the U.S. Open defies my limited abilities with the English language.

Fighting excruciating pain in his recently surgecially repaired left knee on almost every full shot, Woods shot to the lead today with two eagles and a chip in birdie from a dead lie on 17 which hit the flag stick and dropped home. All three miracles took place during a back nine which will be recorded for the ages. You've got to be kidding me.

His first eagle was a bomb he dropped in from over 60 feet on the 13th hole at Torrey Pines. Then came the aforementioned chip in from U.S. Open rough on 17. Finally, a long down hill, severely left to right sliding putt for an eagle three to end his round as thousands of roaring fans jumped up and down as if they had all just collectively stepped on the world's largest wasp's nest. As Bob Costas just finished saying, "it was ridiculous even by Tiger's standards."

Wow, sounds great. I can't seem to make myself watch golf, but I know enough about it to realize that that was a special round.

Wow, I watched the second round, and Tiger was +2. Wow...

Good blog Mike.

Yeah, I was gonna ask how Tiger started off the 3rd round. At one point, they had him @ +1. (I was watching Joey Logano win the Nationwide race tonight, and read the crawl on the bottom of the screen saying he was @ -2 after the 3rd round.)
Only question is, can Tiger keep it up tomorrow?? Who's to say, really?? I don't want to predict this...

I'm with Capernicus. Don't watch it, but I still realize how special it is.

I was really angry after this match because I desperately wanted to see Rocco beat Tiger
