The Penguins must bite the bullet and let Malone go. Though it would be nice to get a draft pick in return, it appears only a fantasy. Though losing Malone may be difficult, the focus must be on retaining Marion Hossa & gritty Brooks Orpik. Barring injury, Crosby could easily have 40+ goals/130+ points while Hossa could collect 50 goals while collecting 120+ points. Crosby & Hossa could become as homehold name as Hull & Oates was back in the late 80's & early 90's. Ryan Stone should make the transition from the Baby Pens and attempt to replace the departed. With health and a little luck, the Pittsburgh Penguins could have a banner season next year. Sidney Crosby could collect the Art Ross, Hart & Pearson Trophies in the regular season while collecting the Conn Smythe in the playoffs. The Stanley Cup winner could easily come out of Pittsburgh next season. And that's without Ryan Malone.

This is not a wise move by Shero. Malone was a good role player to have on that team. There is something wrong with this picture.....

At least I was right about Brooks Orpik.
