Build a football team with professional and amateur athletes from sports other than football. The athletes can be from 1980 to present. Sports may include Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Track and Field, Soccer, Tennis, MMA, Olympic Ping Pong......etc. Heck, Professional "Raslin" is even acceptable. However, the athletes must be human. Your running back cannot be Secretariat.  To qualify, they can't have played professional football at any time. Example...Although Bo Jackson played MLB; he also played in the NFL so he's off limits. You get my drift. We will also assume the players are competing during their prime. This should be a fun experiment of your imagination..............let loose and be creative. We'll start with the Offense here's my example.

QB - Nolan Ryan (MLB)

6'2", 200 lbs. rocket arm, comes through under pressure.

SE - Brad Guzan (MLS)

6'4", 200lbs. 2007 Goalie of the year, outstanding hands, agility, quickness

WR - Ken Griffey Jr. (MLB)

6'3", 228 lbs. athletic, fast, good depth perception, strong

HB - Asafa Powell (Olympic Sprinter)

6'3", 194lbs.  Jamaican, Fastest man on Earth 9.77 100 meters

FB - John Cena (Pro Wrestler)

6'1", 240 lbs. quick, smart, strong, flexible

RT - Akebono (aka Chad Rowan) Oahu, HI

6'8", 514lbs., American ranked 7th on Japanese all time Sumo list in 2001

RG - Eric Randolph ("Randy") Barnes (American shot putter)

6'5", 267lbs. holds outdoor and indoor distance records. Silver 1988 Olympics, Gold 1996 Olympics

C - Magnús Ver Magnússon (ESPN World's Strongest Man)

6'3, 306 lbs. extremely strong, good balance and base, WSM 4 time Champ

LT - Paul Wight "The Big Show" (Pro Wrestling)

7'0", 441 lbs. College Basketball Center Wichita State, "Big", strong

LG - Glen Davis "Big Baby" (NBA)

6'8" 290 lbs. long arms, strong, athletic, has quick feet, my homer pick :)

TE - Charles Barkley (NBA)

6'5 ½", 270 lbs. Athletic, battles, great leaping ability, mean

Interesting idea

I dont think grffey jr could be a good WR i would put Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks there, One of the highest leapers in the Nba very athletic, qiuck and has great hands

Good suggestion. I also considered putting Jordan in there but I think I will save him for later. The toughest one to come up with are linemen. There are a lot of athletic guys out there in all sports but to find one 280lbs plus was a challenge. I didn't want to keep using the obvious......wrestlers so I had to look around a little. Why don't you give it a try...takes a little time but it makes ya think. It's more challenging than the usual "my team is better than yours" descussion.

dang sent it twice

June 20, 2008  10:28 AM ET

ha I would just look at international rugby players for 90 % of the positions haha

June 20, 2008  11:27 AM ET

That's a great suggestion. I may use some of those guys on defense.

June 20, 2008  11:42 AM ET

Definitly should have Jonny Wilkinson as your place kicker. He plays for England check him out, maybe the greatest clutch kicker in the history of Rugby

June 20, 2008  11:57 AM ET

You're right, this is tough. The ones I cam up with so far are:

QB: Charlie Ward - Heisman winner at QB (and not a bad BB player)
WR: Usian Bolt - 9.72 in the 100
RB: Hermann Maer - world champion slalom skier (has to have quick reflexes)

I'll add more as I think of them

June 20, 2008  12:18 PM ET

"RB: Hermann Maer - world champion slalom skier (has to have quick reflexes) "

hahaha thats quite a stretch my friend

June 20, 2008  12:26 PM ET

QB: Carl Edwards - he was an all american in High School, tall, very athletic
RB: Dan Carter - Half back type postion for the New Zealand All Blacks(Rugby) Youtube this guy and tell me you dont think he would dominate the NFL ha
...This is honestly destroying my brain trying to think of people so I am going to take a break

I said it was kinda difficult..................... When I first considered the idea I thought this would be cool and creative. When I got started I was like....man! this is tougher than I thought.
