So I just got done reading about all the continuing drama that is going on with the signing of Brian McBride to Chicago. And I just have to wonder, what is going through his mind right now about signing with the Fire? I understand his desire to play for his hometown team before he hangs it up, but as this debacle drags out longer and longer he has got to be losing faith in how much the team really wants him. From what I have seen and read the Fire management are actually bickering with Toronto about what they want in return for one of if not the best Americans to ever play the game. I just feel that if the Fire wanted him as bad as almost any other team in the league does they would have already worked out a deal with Toronto. But instead they are griping about having to possibly split ways with Justin Mapp or Chris Rolfe. Please tell me, what has Mapp done for the Fire over the past couple of years that would make the Fire want to keep him and not gain McBride? And what is Brian thinking about the overall effort that is being put into signing him? You have got to wonder.....
I don't know. I watched the game against Chivas last night and I have got to say, McBride would definately help this team right now. Barrett (or any other forward for that matter) just didn't get it done, and he had multiple opportunities. You have got to finish those chances to be a starter in my mind, which is something McBride does. And to top it all off the Fire had a huge advantage as Chivas had 10 men for the entire second half.
My word to Chicago's management: get this deal done NOW before Brian has second thoughts and the league loses out on an American soccer icon.

Well, Brian doesn't have too many choices right now. The MLS is the only place that he is going to be able to go to with his age. The Fire will ultimately get him after Toronto FC get what they want. Toronto shouldn't just hand him over and they also don't really need him right now so they should get something out of this. Good blog and good opinion.

Report Offensive CommentMcbride i believe is the biggest national team hero we have, i would put him ahead donovan because of him gutting it out and getting banged up (remember he got all bloody against italy and took and ellbow to the head and when we went to 10 men he defended his *** off) and because donovan is scared and cant play well in the big stage and too much of a ***** to play in europe
He would have a great homecomeing, back to his home club. Fire will land him they will make sure of it

Report Offensive CommentI don't know if he and Blanco would get along very good for very long. Blanco is a bit of a meal if you know what I mean and McBride doesn't put up with crap so the two could end up either in a very good or a very bad relationship.
