The Jason Kidd selection | ahung's Blog

This is my second blog, this time on Jason Kidd's selection to Team A once top notch point guard, Jason Kidd still made Team U.S.A despite a rapid decline in his perfomance and leadership. U.S.A. There are many reasons that some people do not want Kidd on the team. At age 34 he is much older than other stand out point guards such as Chris Paul or Deron Williams who are still in their mid 20's. However, one of the reason's Jason Kidd was chosen over Chris Paul was because he is a big point guard. However, Deron Williams is also a big point guard and has a better jump shot than Jason Kidd. Jason Kidd proved incapable of leading a extremely talented team of Josh Howard, Dirk Nowitzki, and himself past the first round of the playoffs, losing to Chris Paul's Hornets, a team with much less experience and arguably less talent. Deron Williams led a less talented team to the second round of the playoffs, where they held their own but were ultimately defeated by the Kobe Bryant led Lakers. Jason Kidd shot very poorly the entire season and although his shooting percentage improved when traded to Dallas, his over all play reduced even more. Also, this article is going to be about Jason Kidd's over all decline. Yes he is growing older, and has been through injuries, but he is still not living up to his $20 million dollars per year. He couldn't lead a Nets team loaded with talent to playoff contention this year and only made the playoffs with the Mavericks by riding on their record before he was traded.Two teams risked alot by bringing in a veteran to save themself. Jason Kidd went to Dallas and Shaquille O'Neal went to Phoenix. Out of the two, the Shaq deal was more successful. Although both teams lost in the first round, Shaq stepped up his game and tried his hardest to fit in and did a good job. Jason Kidd on the other hand actually became worse than before. He's still a good player no doubt, but a $20 million dollar player? I'll let you people decide that.

the reason i think kidd was chosen to the team is the experience he already has in international competition. i think it was an good pickup. while obviously kidd is not better than the other younger point guards mentioned, he undoutedly still remains a outstanding facilitator. he will not be looked upon to score but looked upon to get the other all-world players their shots. i think experience is absolutely key when playing this type of competition. there is learning curve involved when you switch up from the nba game to the international game and with kidd on that team he has that experience that the younger point guards lack.

the international scene is different tho, different rules different type of play. and kidd has experienced that and the younger guys have not. i think the selection committee more than ever is paying attention to the makeup of the team and what is needed to win instead of simply putting the best talent on the floor and saying go bring us a gold. that logic has proven ineffective against the rest of the world as of late.

Just go ahead and say what you want to say. It was obvious from your statements after this line that you were discussing his decline.
