I don't know truly how to explain it. I am lucky to have lived and grown up in Spain and I look at the Spanish people with a great deal of respect and with a deep sadness. They are very much some of the most obstinate, obtuse, and passionately brilliant people I have ever had the pleasure to know.

They are a team of players who, by definition, have a hard time being united. They are constantly told that they are Andalusians, Catalans, Basques, Madrilenos or Extremadurans. They speak - within their borders - at least two other languages and the number always seems to be growing as the decades pass on by.

They are constantly told that they are doing it wrong and that they are doomed to fail. That they will play as never before and lose like they always do. I don't see that today.

Today I see one team ready to - at least temporarily - throw all of that away. I see a Fernando Torres with nothing but love and pride in his heart. I see Iker Casillas refusing to let one ball get by him. I see a lethal Sergio Ramos brilliantly charging forward and standing strong on defense. I see a Cesc Fabregas ready to demonstrate his subtle skills, a David silva ready to lead and I see Carles Puyol as the immovable object.

I see, today, a new Spanish team.

CASILLAS!!!! man im so glad someone else will stick their neck out for their team! Espana dominated the match and Casillas made 2 great saves to give Spain its semi-final.
I just dont see why Aragones keeps taking Torres out everytime...

a truly horrible game won by a team that constantly passed to the opposite team. Luckily the opposite was as incompetent as spain. A disgrace for football.

At least spain tried. So they won 'rightfully'. But as a paying fan I would beat the money out of the players.
