Welcome FN users to Baseball Tonight, I will be your host, thebasketballguru. This is a new segment on the fledging new FN group ESPN 3(2), the second attempt of an ESPN themed blogging group. I will be reporting of recent events in the baseball world I find interesting, other bloggers of the group my also post Baseball Tonight shows with their own style.

I will start off with the main newsmakers of the week, sorry New York, it is not you guys, but it is your neighbors to the north, the Toronto Blue Jays. First their GM called out Adam Dunn, ruinng any possibilties that Dunn wil be whering powder blues on friday nights at the SkyDome. Then without that uch notice, they fired fairly respected manager Joihn Gibbons, and replaced him with the best Jays manager of all time, good old Cito Gaston. Gaston managed the Jays to their back to back titles in the early 90's, when the Jays made the World Series become truly, a World Series.

Also in the Big Apple, the New York Mets are up to their usual ways, firing manager Willie Randolph, and to prove Randolph's race theory as a farce, a black man was hired. Not that his race is an issue or anything. I like this guy already though, he challenged most of his players early if they were being prima doinnas, which needs to be done in New York fast.

This has been a very successful week for the diversity of managers in the majors, as two African American men were hired as skippers for high-payroll teams.

And in your Chipper Jones Quest for .400 update, the Chip has dipped below the magical amount this week and is now batting .393, we are pulling for you in the ESPN 3(2) studio.

Series to watch

Obviously it is the Cubs-White Sox interleague series that really has the baseball fans going right now as the Cubs and White Sox face each other for the first time with both teams in first place, look for the Cubbies to clean house in this series.,

Also in CWS action, Fresno looks as it is going to face Georgia in the finals as they are beating the Tar Heels 6-1 in the eighth inning
