I'll give one of these a shot. I have a few things to rant on, and since none of the threads le me there, here goes;

1) I always end my posts with a nasty shot at the midget commisioner. I realise it may be somewhat juvenile to keep writing it, but I do feel rather strongly (I know, no kidding!). I really, truly believe he has taken a fine game and ruined it , all in the name of whatever it is he is loyal to. I think the problem is that he has zero hockey interest or knowledge. His entire experience is as a businessman. Well, I don't claim to know a whole lot about the world of business, but it seems to me that if you want to make a product more appealing, you need to make it well, more appealing to the users of said product, in this case, we the fans. His changes and ideas for changes are ridiculous at best. Trying to take an admittedly niche product and make it appeal to those that wouldn't ordinarily go for it is a sure fire way to screw it up for the regulars.

2) Oustside of the storied "Original Six", who have had the good sense to keep their look, what the heck has happend to "cool uniforms"? Okay, the 3rd jersey thingys, especially that "Planet of The Apes" Rangers jersey (and guys?...the blue is no better than the white) I look out there now and all I see is black or boring. even attempts at recapturing tradition, like The Canucks have fallen short. Now maybe The Seals were not for everyone (though I hope I win the one I'm bidding on on Ebay!), but there was some character to them. The Hurricanes look like PJs, The Coyotes were at least unique with the little kachinka doll on them, and The Panthers are just flat out awful. Ironically, these are all non-traditional hockey towns, courtesy of you-know-who!

Anyone? Beuller?

The problem with Bettman Spiny, is not that he doesn't have hockey knowledge or interest.
His problem is he is a vengeful s.o.b.
I recently discovered while watching replays of old hockey...That in fact, the fan watching the game was in reality Bettman, who had his tiny shoe pulled off by Mike Milbury and spanked with it in front of 17000 fans many moons ago.
He never got over it and it explains everything IMO.

Yeah Spiny...I agree, and I think anyone with any NHL knowledge at all agrees that the midget is an idiot. He makes some of the worst decisions I've ever seen..

I won't go into all of them but two at the time of the playoffs just put me into orbit

1. I don't condone what Avery was doing in the Devils series...but then again who ever thought of that before. He looked like an idiot but it was amusing as he**. So you go in and make a rule change in the middle of a series? And don't tell me it was unsportsmanlike conduct interpreted incorrectly...that doesn't fly. Refs needed to just look the other way if someone cleared him out on his backside all the way to the boards..that would have cured it.

2. Telling Al he can't wave the octopus at JLA... This has been a tradition for decades. It's like saying you can't sing "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" at Wrigley Field.

And not even the "snap" decisions like those two, what about The Cursed Trapezoid? What about this fight he's picked with MSg? Let's face it, you have to be a real S.O.B. for someone to chose The Dolans in ANY fight,,,

Spiny, you don't like Bettman? I never would have guessed!
Actually your parting shot always amuses me, especially when you vary it a little. Maybe I'm just juvenile too!! I think we did touch on the "money is king" subject on one of the threads. It's not just hockey; these days many institutions are run by businessmen with the sole intention of making money, and the fans/customers matter least of all as long as they keep spending. Sad, but true.
At the risk of sounding biased I do like my Oilers uniforms. The truly nasty one for me was Nashville's mustard yellow one, holy cow.
Sorry didn't mean to babble on so long .... good blog.
