NYJ 2008 Outlook - Inside Linebacker

In the second part of the NYJ 2008 outlook series were going to look at the inside linebacker position. Even though the Jets player with two inside linebacker a right and a left at almost all times Ive combined them to make it easier. This year the Jets have a great up and coming star in David Harris who will become a household name by the end of this year after having a tremendous season last year and being the full time starter this year. Then theres a few other solid Jets which will be mentioned.

David Harris: Harris is the heart and sole of our 3-4 system. Hes a game changer fast, solid in coverage, and always makes plays. I mean last year he had 127 tackles in only his second year in the NFL, plus five sacks not even to mention how many times he flustered the qb and the stops behind the line. Harris is the first true linebacker that fits our 3-4 perfectly and we should all exepct the same greatness from him as saw last.

Eric Barton: Im not really sure about Barton this year. Last year he only had 73 tackles and it looks like hes on the wrong side of his career. But I hope it was because of all Eric not being used to playing with all the young players the Jets had on defense and he can return to his 100 tackles and a few sack form once again. Barton is one of the few question marks this Jets team has on defense but if he plays like he did in 2006 the Jets will have a great linebacker core once again.

Brad Kassell: Brad has been a solid player with good leadership for a few years. He was on the Patroits during there championship runs a few years ago so he knows what it takes to win. Like every other Jet he wants a ring but after experiencing it a few years ago he never gets flustered and is a solid linebacker that would have a chance to start on almost any other team.

Jason Truskin: Truskin I see an unproven player who has the potential to become a solid player but is not there yet. Last year he didnt play much and only had 8 tackles but his numbers should rise with him being second on the depth chart. At 6'3 250 pounds he has good size and is pretty quick meaning he will be one of the Jets role players for years to come.
