Aside from politics, and religion, sports seems to be one of the most heavily debated topics, but unlike the other two, it usually a lot of fun and doesn't get near as ugly. You don't have to look much further than Fannation's Throwdowns to know that people love debating virtually -anything- with respect to sports.
