In honor of Anthony E's departure from this site..this True Big Ten Story is going to be Penn State.  So let's get right to it.

Penn State's mascot is the Nittany Lion..and after all of my research I couldn't find any fantastic story about the where the Nittany Lion came from.  That kind of made me sad..but oh well.  Penn State's colors are blue and white.  But, there's a story that says that the colors were black and pink..but, were then changed to blue and white after the colors faded.

Penn State for most all sports participates in the Big 10 conference.  However, that doesn't hold true for all sports.  The sports that Penn State doesn't have a Big 10 affiliation with are: men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse and men's volleyball.  Which the Big 10 doesn't sponsor.

Within Penn State's football stadium(Beaver Stadium).  The museum is located in Gate B of Beaver Stadium.  It's two stories tall.  The upper floor of the museum is dedicated to basketball and other indoor sports.  Meanwhile the first level is dedicated to football and other outdoor sports.  Also on the lower level are dedications to the Penn State marching band, cheerleaders and the various students who have been the Nittany Lion.

Penn State has a proud athletic history..which is anchored by the football team.  Beaver Stadium is the largest stadium in the Nation with a capacity of 107,282.  One of the most famous chants that go along with Penn States athletic success is the "We are..Penn State" chant.  Which is started by the cheerleader saying "We are.." and then the student section answering with "Penn State".  This done about 4 consecutive times..followed by "Thank you..Your welcome".  An interesting little side note about this chant that I found is it's not just used at Penn State athletic events....it can also be used around campus when an already enrolled student sees a potential student.

These are all the random facts that I couild find about Penn State university.

the nittany lion came about before a PSU vs Yale football game... there used to be mountain lions native to mount nittany so the Nittany Lion would crush the Yale Bulldogs and that riled the team to win over Yale... at least that is what i was told when we took the library tour freshman year (there is a stuffed nittany lion on display).
