I haven't been following the College World Series - it just seems to get lost in the midst of everything - but I'm really glad I've managed to catch part of tonight's game. I'm not going to say who I pick to win, but I'll just say it's the 6th inning and I'm liking what I see. (Go Bulldogs!...cuz that narrows it down...) Then again, I love college sports, love baseball, love boys so watching the championship game is pretty much a win-win for me.

It's a "lose" tonight for Erin Andrews, though. Generally, I covet her entire life, but her hair is just not working tonight. I have absolutely no idea what she said on air because I was so distracted by her Mod Squad 'do. Add some go-go boots and she'd be good to, uh, go.

What I did like seeing what the crowd shot of Georgia SS Gordon Beckham's dad. The former QB for South Carolina still has the hot jock thing going on. In more age appropriate eye candy news, the Fresno State 3rd baseman Mendonca is totally working the scruffy/hot look. Even if he kind of reminds me of Jason from Laguna Beach and The Hills. Apparently he's "scrappy" and has been making every play that's come his way all series, and after hearing the former major-leaguers he was just compared to, I'm a fan.

Not such a fan of the Fresno State freshman shortshop's three errors (but the pitcher's jocular reaction earns big points). I only saw the most recent error - a slow roller right through his legs - and it took me right back to my days as a Little Leaguer. I could hear my dad yelling "Get that glove dirty!" like he was sitting right next to me.

I haven't been watching the majority of the games so I haven't seen much of Fresno's Steven Detweiler. The 3-run home run he just hit was pretty sweet, but I missed most of his other heroics. The broadcasters cannot say enough about him, though. Boy-crush? Regardless, two-minute-long rave about him began with the quote of the night: "Steve Detweiler, playing with one thumb.."

Yes, I understand that he's injured (and still playing better than many of the other fully healthy players) but before I figured that out, it sounded like he just, you know, decided to only go with one thumb for this game.
