BIO NOTE : Hillman spent the past five season( 2003-2007 ) as a manager in Japn and 12 season ( 1990-2001 ) managing in the New York Yankees minor league system . In Japan , he led the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters to three postseason appearances and won the Japan series title and Konami Cup in 2006 to give the fighters their title since 1962. In his 18th season as a manager , he has won more than 1,200 games and has a winning percentage above .500.
RECENT NEWS : On Wednesday, Hillman led the Royals to a sweep of the series against the Colorado Rockies to help Kansas City improve the major's best record ( 12-3 ) in interleague play this season. The Royals have won 10 of their last 11 games , all against National League teams.
