Chicago came up roses last night with the first pick in the NBA Draft. The Chicago Bulls selected floor general, point guard extraordinaire - Derrick Rose. This product of Chicago's Southside has been able to shine without getting caught up in the midst of the hype and hoopla, the drugs and gang bangers, not even the groupie girls were able to change the direction of this world W.I.N.D. (who is next to dominate) phenomenon. We haven't witnessed a ball player like this from the city that works since the likes of Isiah Thomas, Mark Aguirre, Terry Cummings and Dwayne Wade. The last time the Chicago Bulls signed a player from its backyard it didn't work out as well, (see Eddie Curry). But he was a by product of Chicago, growing up with grass under his feet in the South Suburbs of Chicago Eddie wanted to be a gymnast, not a ball player. He led his high school to second place in the IHSA basketball tournament, Rose was a state champion twice. At seven feet, most times the biggest person on the court, Eddie, "Sugar not Spice" Curry, was constantly on the floor after a rebound; instead of catching the ball, turning, out-letting a pass, and filling the lane. It has been said that the wind from the city off the lake created the slashing ability of Chicago's guards. Makes jump shots fall gracefully. It's been said the wind makes the heart thrive under pressure. Derrick Rose is a charismatic, talent filled with the tenacity you want and expect from a marquee player. Armed with a nose to the grind attitude, a dramatic suave and debonair flair. He's got a swagger in his stroll; court awareness and presence in his bounce. A champion is blowing in the direction of Chicago. That's not hot air. It's a sweet smelling Rose. The second coming from the big city, Derrick Rose is the one, Who Is Next to Dominate.

Perhaps the Chicago Bulls Head Office should speak with the Cleveland Cavaliers Head Office and show them how to make an appropriate selection in the Draft. As it stands now, they have no clue.

Nice Blog by the way.
