My good buddy Jason is over to watch the draft. He's a Blazer fan and ever since we watched last year's lottery together (Oden), I guess it's the cool thing for him to watch basketball events at my house. Good times.

4:03-Noting like Stu Scott with the emphatic lead in. All the players look real fly, none more so than O.J. Mayo.

4:05-Jeff Van Gundy is commentating! What a great start.

Jay Bilas always has great comments. He calls this the "Diaper Draft" due to all the freshman. From now on I'll refer to the 2008 draft as the "Diaper Draft". Thank you Jay.

4:11-Andy Katz reports the Bulls have informed him they'll select hometown kid, Derrick Rose. No one's surprised.

He also reports on the trade earlier today, RJ for Yi. He says the Nets are freeing up cap space for bron-bron on '10.

4:14- Van Gundy calls Beasley a Hall of Fame talent. Big words from a little coach.
Personally, I'd rather have the "Breakfast Beverage" than Mike Beasley.

4:17- Dick Viatle is ranting. I just popped a blood vessel listening to Dick talk.

Almost Draft Time!

-Speaking of time, the magnificent invention of TiVo has allowed me to completely lose track of time, so bear with me.

-Stu Scott jumps to Danilo Gallinari's rescue when the Knicks' faithful boo him. Gallinari is unphased.

-A reporting threesome on the Bulls, Knicks and Sonics:

-Wendy Nix on the Knicks...weird, I wonder if that was planned.
Collin Dominguez...mmmm
David Amber...he's just out of his league with Collin in the mix, plus he has a girl's last name.

4:27- 3 minutes to go folks!

4:30-The draft begins with David Stern getting showered with boos and Knick fans chanting (more like grunting) words no one can comprehend.

4:35-Watching Van Gundy reminds me what he said about him being charged only half price for haircuts since he only has half a head of hair.

#1 Pick: Derrick Rose-Chicago...it's official.

-Steven A. Smith has the most entertaining interviews of all-time. Rose ruins it with the politically correct answers.

#2 Pick: Michael Beasley-Miami...no surprises, but my IQ dropped a little after watching his interview

#3 Pick: "The Breakfast Beverage"-T'Wolves...Very classy dresser, but it's nice that Minny has 1,293 capable Guards/Swingmen now. Great job Kevin McHale.

#4 Pick: Russell Westbrook-Sonics...A poor man's Monta Eliis.

#5 Pick: Kevin Love-Grizzles...LOVE this pick. No pun intended. He just looks and sounds like a stud, plus he lost a ton of weight. Trade for this guy Eddy!

#6 Pick: Danilo Gallinari-Knicks...Has that look. Contrary to what Knicks fans think, I think his is a great pick.

#7 Pick: Eric Gordon-Clippers...I don't see the big deal with Eric Gordon. He hasn't shown anything too special in college and I think he'll turn out to be the next Ricky Davis, without the show-boating. Another interesting nugget. For the little interesting fact under Eric Gordon's name, it says he like to go to the Bahamas. Really? That's like saying Kevin Love likes lasagna.

-I just got a text message saying the Sixers are considering Kosta Koufos. I'd throw my TV out the window.

#8 Pick: Joe Alexander-Bucks...Finally an athletic white guy. He gives all white guys hope. Thank You Joe.

#9 Pick: D.J. Augistine-Bobcats...Interesting pick with Felton already on the roster. Did Michael have another blunder? Brook Lopez is crying.

-Koufas?

#10 Pick: Brook Lopez-Nets...His crying didn't last long and he wins the award for best interview thus far. Apparently he emulates his brother's game? That probably explains why he was selected ahead of his brother. Steven also asked him if the Nets will make the playoffs and Brook responded with, "That's what you said ahahahahahahahah!" Very awkward moment, but that's what makes it fun. Thank you Brook.

#11 Pick: Jerryd Bayless-Pacers...He's one cocky dude.

-Someone please take Kosta.

#12 Pick: Jason Thompson-Kings...Here's a surprise. I barely know anything about this guy, but 12 seems a little high. He might turn out to be the Renadlo Balkman of this draft.

#13 Pick: Brandon Rush-Blazers...Very solid player. Jason says, "He's a stud, he brings so much to the court and he's a championship player." He's in to that sort of thing.

-3 picks to go and Randolph, Jordan, Speights and Arthur are still available!

#14 Pick: Anthony Randolph-Warriors...Nooooooo! I wanted Randolph, but quickly convinced myself that he's way too small to be a NBA power forward.

-Kosta! Kosta! Kosta!

#15 Pick: Robin Lopez-Suns...The Anderson Varejao look-a-like continues the Lopez tradition with an entertaining interview.

-Philly's up! Kosta?! Better not be! Jordan's available!

#16 Pick: Mareesse Speights-Sixers...or Mareesse Speights. All that trade talk and talk of moving up and talks of Kosta (Thank God, that was false) and we get Mareesse Speights. Speights has been projected to be a Sixer in about every mock draft since April. I'm a little disappointed, just because of the lack of excitement. On the bright side, we got our post-player and no Koufas!

-I'm exhausted. This took a lot more out of me than I thought, so I'll be back tomorrow with thoughts on the newest Sixer, Mareesse Speights! Goodnight.
